My MIL and I got the room painted! It looks great — so much better than what it was. As with all of my house projects, once they are done I wonder how I ever lived with them the way they were and for so long! It had been nine long years since I last painted that room — yikes! homeowner makes vow not to wait so long next time Any of you who have been here are probably wondering if I got all of those knick knacks put back — yes! spent the better part of the morning re-cluttering.

In other exciting house news, the contractor called and the bathroom project will be launched tomorrow! Most of you know that John and I do everything ourselves. He does excellent work — could be a contractor himself — and our house is wonderful because of his talents. However, I am so looking forward to having someone else do this job — someone else cleaning up the reconstruction messes, someone else schlepping everything in and out of the house, someone else doing it and having it be done in a matter of weeks rather than months! the contractor comes highly recommended, so hopefully I won’t have any nightmares

Guess what I am doing today. Not knitting!

This week’s project is to paint the den. My mother-in-law (world’s best MIL) is coming over to pitch in – hopefully we can get this room done in a day or two. I went yesterday to the paint store, became overwhelmed by the color selection, and basically relied on the owner’s opinion. This method has always worked for me in the past! I bring something with me that has the colors I am trying to achieve, fling myself into their arms and then they steer me in the right direction.

Do not fear, my knitting fans, I have not foresaken the needles — the second sock is almost done, more sock yarn has arrived (the self striping kind) and my order from Elann was delivered. I shall post pics this week. Also my guilt level with long lingering WIPs is on the rise – perhaps nearing the breaking point!
