Waiting for the other shoe poo to drop

Main Entry: [1]dan·gle
Pronunciation:
‘da[ng]-g&l
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): dan·gled; dan·gling /-g(&-)li[ng]/
Etymology: probably of Scandinavian origin; akin to Danish dangle to dangle
Date: circa 1590
intransitive senses
1 : to hang loosely and usually so as to be able to swing freely
2 : to be a hanger-on or a dependent

Poe has danglers.

If you have never owned a pet, or are blessed with a perfectly oiled digestive tract, please refer to the definition above.  The rest of us know what I’m talkin’ about.  Danglers – who hasn’t suffered the frustration of those??!!

Danglers require patience.  Given time, a case of the danglers will resolve itself.  Perhaps Newton wasn’t really sitting under an apple tree – perhaps he was stuck on the bowl!

Puppies are not known for their patience.  Poe is no exception.  He tries to run away from his danglers.

This is not an effective technique.

He has also tried skooching his fanny along on the ground.

This is a particularly messy remedy.

Why am I writing about this?  Isn’t this a knitting blog??  Are you thinking about dropping me from your Bloglines account — have I gone too far, said too much?

And why would such a young puppy have a case of the danglers?

Because he is eating all my roving!

Hey, Fa in PA! this one’s for you!

Kidstree0025 As Vicki has duly noted, FA in PA put me in my place.  She has indeed knit things other than the lowly dishcloth.  Dishcloths became FA’s passion, but her skills were not limited to those tiny squares.  Purlingswine likes to think she is an honest person, so this entry is my mea culpa!  I was on the phone with FA just yesterday and she asked me to search for a specific child’s hat pattern – being her favorite niece, I did so and sent the pattern this morning.  Imagine my delight when I received this Christmas card in my mailbox!  What a coincidence- these tykes are wearing the very same hat FA is seaking! I have a very cool friend, who always sends very cool cards and this was this year’s offering.

apples and trees

My family has gone nuts!  I hardly recognize these people! They are doing things that are not characteristic of their normal behaviors.  The unexpected.  The unexplained.  I will have to repaint my mental image of them!

(Of course, they have been a bit crazy all this time, but this is a new trend emerging ….)

Do you remember FA in PA?  My knitting Aunt who, aside from the family Christmas stockings never knit anything except dishcloths?  Who became quite intractable over these dishcloths?  Who would not even venture from her dishcloth pattern??!!  I am pleased to report she has successfully completed her very first mitten!!  She will be sending along a picture sometime soon!  As we have been on the phone recently discussing the merits of mittens in the round v. straight, there has even been some crazy talk about hats!

And if having aunties shoot out from the kitchen drawer isn’t enough for a body to take, there are these from my tugboat-captain-knitting-cousin!  Gorgeous socks!!  (I never knew he had such skinny ankles — where in the hell did those come from, while I am over here standing on top of tree stumps??!!)

Gram would be so proud!

do you think they will all start blogging next?
