Ann can’t play Mrs. Torrence

This miserable headcold has gotten the better of me and I had to cancel my plans with Cara. boo-hoo! No excellent city adventures, no matzo ball soup! ~sniff~

Fear not darlings – although illness has kept me from playing with Cara today, I am never too sick to play with Cara!

Come play with us Cara!

Angelia reminded me that I never showed you guys pictures of my spinning! On the left is a bobbin with the brown Jacob. The bobbin on the right has the brown Jacob after Peggy E. added the green mohair and silk. And a bit closer …… brown and green. Although I must say that the difference isn’t quite as subtle as protrayed in the pictures. Check out how even everything is!

The only other thing I have been doing besides knitting and spinning is fighting off a head/chest cold. ugh! The kind where your eyeballs feel bulgy and your brain feels furry? When I woke up this morning, I had the smallest notion that I may be winning the battle – but I don’t want to jinx myself.

I absolutely need to get better. Tomorrow I am taking D#2 into the city for her very own tour of NYU given by non other than Cara! I won’t even tell you what Cara said the highlight would be …..you can fill in the blank: She will show us all the places she’s ever _____. studied? written poetry? worn her sorority pin while frat boys serenaded her? I am pretty sure it is that last one! And since D#2 is a beginner knitter, Cara wants to show her some of the city’s cool yarn shops. I wonder if Cara knows the best place in the city for some matzo ball soup – could be just what the dr. ordered!

I have been talking a few people through their first attempts at sock knitting (FA in PA needs to send me some pictures). Here is an email I just received from my friend M. Carmel……

Esteemed One,
I offer attached pictures (in a most humble manner), for your perusal and
blessings…..thank you, oh, exhalted one…..your little knitting
grasshopper (prostrating herself in front of you)

Didn’t she do a great job?? Let’s hear it for the girl!! Let’s also remember that while she may indeed be my little knitting grasshopper, that in no way means I am an ancient Chinese man.

So, what do you think about the place? If you haven’t noticed, I rearranged the furniture around here. And in a very scary twist, Cara and I are on the same wavelength – she’s redesigned things too. She is supposed to be knitting – Olympic knitting. Instead she is gadding about to Ikea, assembling furniture until her hands are swollen and redesigning her blog. gah!

But enough about Cara, back to Me! I have tried and tried to make that banner image the width of my page. Typepad tells me to enlarge it to 770 pixels which I did. But still it won’t stretch – which is probably a good thing since the picture would be totally out of proportion. I just love the expression on that little pig’s face!

In fiber news, I have been spinning and spinning. During my marathon session of drum carding, I discovered a pound of Jacob fleece. It was very rustic and coarse and was like spinning pubic hair. Not that I’ve tried it. I swear. Well, Peggy E. added some gorgeous green silk and mohair and now it is a thing of beauty. And I have been spinning away!
