"IMAG0962What a busy couple of days it has been! It began with a celebration of the royal wedding at the shop on Thursday night, encompassed another wedding on Friday night, a Knit a Thon on Saturday, a Sheep to Shawl Festival on Sunday and mixed in with it all was  a surprise visit from D#2!

IMAG1015  If we are friends on Facebook, you already know that  a bunch of us got together to knit the entire Royal Wedding Party.  It was a true group effort – some knit the entire person, others knit portions of outfits while others worked hard on the embellishments.  We certainly had a lot of laughs.  On Thursday night, we had a reception!  Anyone who didn’t knit, catered the affair – cucumber sandwiches, scones, wedding cake and champagne, of course!

The Knit a Thon is in its third year, but is a first for us.  We were asked to host it this year and it benefits YAI, an organization that helps disabled people and their families.  That too was tons of fun with lots of door prizes thrown in!  We also raised over $3,100!!    although I didn’t get any good pictures.  : (

Sunday was the annual Huntington Sheep to Shawl.  Huntington combines this with their tulip festival and there is always lots going on.  This year, we got to see the militia – they are usually set up at across the street in a largish field.  The kids were so cute with their wooden rifles being asked to stand at attention etc.  We had great weather and another fun day!

and now I need another weekend to recover from my weekend!

the plarn truth ….

plarn betta

A betta fish made from plarn.

This was a quick, easy and fun project. The only downside was all the static electricity generated – that was annoying.  This project calls for those very thin bags – the kind that are in the vegetable aisle at the market – to make it look authentically fishy.  I wonder if plarn from the usual checkout bags isn’t quite as filled with static since it is thicker.

Have I yet displayed the depth of my lack of understanding of electrical properties?

Hong Kong Pig Pen

it’s a pen – and he looks like some kind of action figure/hero.  The wording says  ‘Why so serious?’  I have googled it, but can’t find any info.  Anyway, I love it and on top of being all pig and all good – it’s one of those pens that feels good in your hand and writes great too!
