I have been having trouble coming up with entries of late.  The devastating news of the world has me feeling that it is in poor taste to prattle on about knitting and other minutiae.  Most of my on-line time has been spent reading various news feeds with my jaw hanging open thinking, ‘Oh my God’ ….. the scale of the disaster is more than I can comprehend, I can’t wrap my mind around the numbers and the numbers keep increasing.  Which of course, are not numbers.

So I read the news, my mind opens as far as it will go to grapple with the information and then it snaps back on itself.  The pictures, the numbers, the people …. and then I look for a diversion.

Perhaps you are looking for a diversion too …..

Joanne hosted a knitting get together last night – we had a lot of food and laughs!  Melissa was there as well.  As far as I can tell, there are four knitting bloggers on Long Island so the only one missing was the fair and lovely Kathleen who had put in a full day at the salt mine (Granny’s!) and wasn’t able to attend.  We chatted the night away.  Joann has a wonderful large, yet cozy home with beautiful quilts laying about.  Perhaps if we beg her, she will post some pictures — there is an especially gorgeous quilted wall hanging of a church.  Please, please Joann, put up some pictures!

I suppose now is not a good time to tell you that I have been working on my poncho of which I have not taken a single picture …. yet!  I bought the yarn for this back in November at Granny’s …… here is a recycled picture of the purchase.  With the help of my colorist (thanks Claire!), I have organized the color scheme and have started knitting.  It is coming out beautifully.  Perhaps I will get off my arse and take a progress photo at some point today!

ps.  any other Typepad user out there notice the irony of the new spell check feature? It doesn’t recognize the word blog!

santa’s list

You Were Mostly Nice This Year!
Sure, you had your naughty moments… but guess what? Santa was probably sleeping when you were living it up. As far as he’s concerned, you’ve been on your best behavior. So cross your fingers, and you might score good presents.
thanks to Wollgas!

What a wonderful Christmas!  My mind is jumping in a million directions and I am having trouble coming up with a coherent paragraph …. maybe a list is the way to go.

Things that made this holiday extra nice:

  1. Christmas fell on a Saturday
  2. this meant that my Boar had the next day off!
  3. my brother and SiL arrived safely
  4. my cesspool did not overflow
  5. we had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner party – friends and family filled the house.
  6. all the food I cooked came out great, especially the Bailey’s Irish Cream Cheesecake
  7. everyone liked their presents.
  8. I even had a few surprises!
  9. one of which was bobbins and a replacement knob for Proud Mary
  10. this meant that my Boar put a lot of thought and even did some sleuthing to find the perfect present.
  11. that thought process was the best gift of all!
  12. brother and SiL arrived home safely.
  13. the daughters have already gone through their closets — new clothes are on hangars and old clothes have been delivered to the Goodwill.
  14. we had some snow last night – a fire in the fireplace, good leftovers and knitting….it was perfect.
  15. the snowblower worked this morning when I went out there
  16. soup is on the stove
  17. girlfriends arrive tonight for a fiber filled evening!
