Over the past few weeks, our weather service has been right on the money. Sure enough it is pouring! A good day to knit …. and here I am trying to figure out the mysterious world of blogging. I have been poking around the editing section trying to figure out how to post pictures. No luck yet. Hopefully I will solve this riddle and that should make things more interesting.

I volunteered some hours last night to benefit one of the local hospitals. The hospital guilds are running a gift wrapping station at the mall and my mother in law is in charge of organizing it. It was a lot of fun – got to meet and chat.

One man had many things to be wrapped. He had had open heart surgery last year and was telling us this was the best year of his life. That he was going all out in the present department and that the past year has been his greatest gift.

Then there was a group of 13-15 year old boys with gifts for their families. One had bought his mother a dragon/candle holder type thing. He was hoping that she would love it and felt that he had covered all of the bases, given her love of both candles and dragons! When it came time to pay for the gift wrap, one of them wondered if we could break a hundred dollar bill!! All hard earned money from after school jobs. A bunch of middle school tycoons :)

As for today, I am getting together with some knitting friends for fiber fun and lunch. I am bringing along bits and pieces of my stash. My next project is going to be a Bucket o Chic hat. Given my resolution to work off of the stash and not buy any new yarn, I need to play around with what I’ve got and see what combinations we can come up with. One of the ladies just completed her first Bucket o Chic and it is lovely. My fingers are itching to get started!
