My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was about 10 years old. I remember when I first started knitting, she would do all the casting on and binding off for me. Whenever I dropped a stitch or had any other type of roadblock, all knitting would cease until she was able to look at and fix it. After I moved away from home, she was only a phone call away to address any questions (and not just knitting questions).
I am always impressed to hear of other people who taught themselves to knit through reading how-to manuals. I am much more of a hands on learner – maybe I just need more hand holding through the process. In any event, this is a great site for anyone who is like me. It is brought to you courtesy of Knitting Beyond the Hebrides. Check it out – there are so many wonderful links on this site. It can be our Internet Grammy!
Thanks! Will definitely be checking this site when doing the next Christmas stocking. Picking up those side stitches in the heel area is always a challenge for me.
Am sure Grammy is looking down, reading your latest and smiling!
