weekend continued …

I cannot tell you how busy it was on Saturday. We arrived early, at 8:30 and stayed until closing at 6:00. It was full up with vendors, animals, exhibitors and people! There seemed to be thousands of people. The weather was sunny & hot. Right off the bat I met Chelsea! She is one of my favorite bloggers — there is a picture in the photo album (check it out in the sidebar). She spotted my purlingswine totebag. She is just as great in person as on her site! When you read someone’s site, you feel like you know them. So to meet in person is a bit surreal — here is someone that you ‘touch base’ with every week, possibly every day and you’ve never laid eyes on them! I introduced her as my friend and we had only just met – but I really meant it!! She is terrific! Chelsea was off to take a class, so we said we would meet up later.

What a moronic thing to say.

There were thousands of people there — how did we expect to meet up later??? Well, after some (lots) of shopping later, we were having some lunch (kettle corn) and who should we see? Through my site reading today, I see that the place was crawling with bloggers — I didn’t see any of them, but I saw Chelsea twice – actually three times!! We ate lunch, did some chatting and shopping and then she had to go to another class.

One of Saturday’s biggest highlights was my participation in an auction. I should not be allowed to go near those things. Remember how I said I wasn’t going to buy a spinning wheel? Remember how Peggy said she wouldn’t let me come home with a spinning wheel?

I think I caught some spinning wheel fever.

Whenever you talk with someone who spins, a glazed, fevered look overcomes them. Have you noticed? No one ever likes spinning – they all LOVE it. I must have gotten too close, forgotten to wash my hands or something …..

I started bidding on wheels.

I didn’t know what I was doing – auction, wheel or otherwise.

I went over my limit – by $150!!!

Thank God I was outbid.

I bought a drop spindle and spent the rest of the day trying to settle down.
