I have been having trouble coming up with entries of late.  The devastating news of the world has me feeling that it is in poor taste to prattle on about knitting and other minutiae.  Most of my on-line time has been spent reading various news feeds with my jaw hanging open thinking, ‘Oh my God’ ….. the scale of the disaster is more than I can comprehend, I can’t wrap my mind around the numbers and the numbers keep increasing.  Which of course, are not numbers.

So I read the news, my mind opens as far as it will go to grapple with the information and then it snaps back on itself.  The pictures, the numbers, the people …. and then I look for a diversion.

Perhaps you are looking for a diversion too …..

Joanne hosted a knitting get together last night – we had a lot of food and laughs!  Melissa was there as well.  As far as I can tell, there are four knitting bloggers on Long Island so the only one missing was the fair and lovely Kathleen who had put in a full day at the salt mine (Granny’s!) and wasn’t able to attend.  We chatted the night away.  Joann has a wonderful large, yet cozy home with beautiful quilts laying about.  Perhaps if we beg her, she will post some pictures — there is an especially gorgeous quilted wall hanging of a church.  Please, please Joann, put up some pictures!

I suppose now is not a good time to tell you that I have been working on my poncho of which I have not taken a single picture …. yet!  I bought the yarn for this back in November at Granny’s …… here is a recycled picture of the purchase.  With the help of my colorist (thanks Claire!), I have organized the color scheme and have started knitting.  It is coming out beautifully.  Perhaps I will get off my arse and take a progress photo at some point today!

ps.  any other Typepad user out there notice the irony of the new spell check feature? It doesn’t recognize the word blog!

  1. Blogger’s spellcheck doesn’t recognize blog or blogger…

The numbers make my mind whirl…I’ve done everything I can, which is virtually nothing, and I’m fighting to distract myself… and failing, as evidenced by the six tries it took me to cast on a hat last night… It’s horrifying.
