My darlings!! I nearly let a day go by without blogging — eek!

Sadly, no knitting content. I did indeed work on the minisweater last night while watching Desperate Housewives. Did anyone else see this show? It was surprisingly good and I am looking forward to next Sunday night. Now that Six Feet Under is over, I need another show to fill the gap – although HBO will be starting Carnivale soon and then I’ll have some hard choices to make.

Anyway, I did indeed work on the minisweater but did not finish it. Oh well.

To continue the rambling nature of this entry, I will tell you that today is our anniversary. Eighteen years ago today the Boar and I took the leap. I have trouble believing that it has been that long, that I could possibly be old enough to have been married for 18 years. This is due in large part to the fact that I was a child bride. :) (although I am kidding, it is not by much …. I was a mere 23 at the time!)

We aren’t doing anything special tonight to celebrate but we will be going away for a weekend. What fabulous destination do we have planned? What romantic get-away is in store? As a measure of his true devotion, The Boar is whisking me off to …… baa! is that guy in love with me or what?

weekend

Barn Barn2

I am hard at work on the Mini Sweater aka Boobholder. I am hoping to have it finished this evening. My progress is due in large part to the wonderful helpful Mindy of Gidget Casts On. I was confused and confounded by portions of the pattern and Mindy walked me through it! Yay for Blog Friends!! I have not taken any pictures of the sweater, but do have some of our new barn.

We moved barns last week. The girls’ trainer decided to strike out on his own – here are some pictures of the new place. Isn’t it cute? It is a further drive for us, but it’s scenic and goes quickly.

ps. the car was inspected and Daughter #1 has her new test date later this month. Perhaps I won’t be making the drive at all in the near future ……

Some fellow bloggers are taking to the confessional. Wool & Words and The Knitty Gritty are cleansing their knitting spirit and airing their dirty laundry. Their ‘sins’ involve yarn purchases. Personally, I don’t feel too guilty about yarn purchases – although that tune may change when I get back from Rhinebeck. But it was weighing on their minds and now they feel better. And if it makes you feel better then I say confess away. (is it a sin to take such a hedonistic view of confession?)

My knitting transgression is much darker. It goes beyond cash value. It smacks of poor judgement, impatience, pride, anger and sloth. I may end up burning in hell.

Many year ago, I was working on a sweater for daughter #1. It was a pullover with some funky fish designs. I had made some poor color choices. I had failed to swatch.

I knit the back and most of the front. Things were not looking good – it was too big and it was ugly. I despaired.

I tend to be a one project at a time type of person. I was so fed up with this sweater that I turned away – I turned away and knit nothing for more than a year simply because I couldn’t stand the fish sweater.

I shunned knitting.

Winter came and I bought the girls mittens. A baby shower gift was store bought. I even went so far as to pack my knitting bag away into the back of a closet.

Finally something snapped and I decided to take action. This was ridiculous and had gone on long enough!

Did I finish the ugly sweater? Did I frog it and make good use of the yarn? Did I donate it to a knitting for charity organization?

I did none of these things.

I threw the whole thing out. Right into the trash.
