Wow!!

forget the porn, the political commentary – the best way to generate comments is to wonder about gender suitability as regards fruit caps!

My informal poll is showing the majority of the respondents believe that fruit caps are okay for boys. Especially pumpkin hats.

Yes to fruit caps. No to tutus.

not much news from these parts … The Boar & Daughter #1 are off on a college trip. They left yesterday afternoon for her tour of Stonehill today. I just heard from them – and our X (reader of purlingswine and entering freshman of Stonehill) was right – Daughter #1 loves it. They have finished the tour and are hoping to catch the ferry for home.

The good news is that she has liked every school we have seen. My SiL is in the administrative/admissions end of higher education. She and I have discussed the importance of seeing a variety of schools and the fact that there is more than one school that is right for you. I have known a number of kids who are highly invested in going to one particular college or university. Not that they shouldn’t have a favorite — but there should be more than one school on the list.

Tonight Daughter #2 and I have a date. We are doing something that my mother would never have done with me. This may or may not be a good thing.

I am taking my fourteen year old to a bar.

Yes, a bar.

It is a local establishment that features local talent. Daughter #2’s good friend is in a band and their debut performance is tonight.

So I will be clubbing with my youngest wild child. This is either:

1. a very good thing, a bonding experience and something that will move our relationship onto a deeper level or …..

2. the entrance ramp to the Highway to Hell.

girlie men

I know that I have posted one too many entries regarding fruit caps for children. I am sick of the subject myself. However, I must add a few more cents on the topic.

1. Remember my prediction? My friend would be asked to knit a bushel and a peck of fruit caps once the other ladies at the baby shower saw the one I knit for her to present as being made by her?? Do you remember my smug self-certainty?

Once again smug self certainty has bitten me in the ass. Rarely, if ever, does it serve me well.

My dearest cousin is a reader of my site. She was overwhelmed by the cuteness of the pumpkin hat. She could hardly believe her eyes! She has asked me to knit one for her boy.

So this weekend was spent churning out another fruit hat. This brings my grand total to four. That is four caps in two months!

This cousin is artistically inclined and has agreed to design an original Christmas Stocking graphic in exchange for the hat. (I think I have gotten the better end of the deal!)

2. I am taking a poll. How many of you out there think that the pumpkin hat is ‘girlie’? Leave a comment – is it a girl/boy/or either type of hat?

And there you have it. Hopefully my last two cents on the fascinating subject of Fruit Caps for Children.

like a hole in the head

did you miss me this weekend?

I have been thinking about posting M-F. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but on the weekends I don’t post anything good anyway — just goofy quizzes etc. My stats always take a nose dive on the weekends, so clearly you people are out living your lives instead of taking my quizzes to find out what kind of My Pretty Pony you are.

So waddya say? shall we just arrange to meet here on Mondays?
