Have I let you down? I realize that I failed to post with my usual daily regularity. I tried! I just couldn’t come up with anything good. Look what one of my biggest fans emailed:

OH WHERE, OH WHERE
HAS THE PURLING SWINE GONE?
OH WHERE, OH WHERE
CAN SHE BE?

WAS THE PARTYING THIS WEEKEND
TOO MUCH FOR HER BLOG?
OH WHERE, OH WHERE
CAN SHE BE?

I will try not to let it happen again!

tsk tsk

I am a b-a-d blogger.

Not only did I not bring my digi cam to the Spinning Guild meeting on Wednesday night, I failed to bring it to the Knitting Guild luncheon today!

Fortunately for me, I am able to leech off of others. Please go visit KatyKnits for today’s pictures. she’s a good blogger! The luncheon was lovely – a trunk show, door prizes, good food, exellent company and even ice-coffee!

The girls are almost finished with school. At the moment it is exam week. It is hard to keep track of who needs to be where & when. They themselves are good at knowing their schedules, but tis I who is hauling them around ….. Luckily there are only two more days to get through and then it is over!

Spinning

Did you think I had forsaken Proud Mary? Was she overshadowed by the frenzy of knitting?

The answer to both of these questions is, yes.

But that is all about to change. I have found a group of spinners willing to hold my hand and walk me through the process!

I went to a LI Spinning Guild Meeting last night. Between this and the Knitting Guild, I believe I have found my tribe! What a great group of women! Before the meeting officially begins, they get together with their wheels – this is a good time to ask about technique etc. As hard as this may be to beleive, I was feeling a bit shy and didn’t bring Proud Mary. I wasn’t sure how much hand-holding would be available and I didn’t want to assume. I did bring my drop spindle and was given a lesson in how to use it. Next time Proud Mary is taking a road trip! There was a llama presentation, opportunities for show & tell, a lending library – all kinds of things. To add to the flavor, the meeting is held in a historic site – The Brush Barn in Smithtown.

As if this weren’t all a body could stand, I also got to meet the dynamic duo behind Webheads – Melissa and Joanne! Melissa went to the guild meeting. Afterward we met up with Joanne at a local diner. I am so glad I got to meet these two – it was fun to sit and chat with other knitting bloggers. I forgot to bring my camera, so run over there to see pictures. I knew I was going to like them just by reading their site — funny, interesting women! When we were exchanging emails to arrange our outing, Melissa wrote that she was ‘short & plump, wearing a loud tye-dyed tee shirt’. I loved it and was hooked! Now I just have to get them to join the spinning guild. They are members of the Knitting Guild. However those meetings are held during the day and these are working girls!

It is a fiber filled week – spinning yesterday, knitting tonight and a Guild luncheon on Friday … life is good!

ps. I have installed a new chat board – check it out in the side bar!

Here is the knitting news:

A dear friend asked me to knit a Berry Hat for an upcoming baby shower. This friend and I go way back, so the request is not the problem. She doesn’t like the recipient, wants to give the hat more in the spirit of ‘take that’ you evil so-and-so and she wants to pawn it off as her own work.

I am never above giving evil so-and-so’s their due. I relish the planning of such strategies, so much so that I fear I will never see the Pearly Gates. However, this plan is fraught with pitfalls. The first and foremost being that these women will be so overcome by the beauty of the hat and clamor for one of their own, that I will become ensnarled in an endless web of knitting to cover my dear friend’s lying ass!! So I think I shall knit the little cap, but only one shall be knit. And then she too will become a Chick with Sticks.

Actually, now that I think about it, it is the best plan ever! I shall indeed knit the thing of startling beauty. My friend will pawn if off as her own and bask in her ill-gotten glory. She will be caught unawares by the pleading of the multitudes – ‘please knit us one too’ they will cry. She will be forced to perfect the art (she is a newby to the craft) of knitting in order to maintain the ruse. A knitter will be born/hatched/spawned. pick your poison verb.

It’s perfect, I tell you, perfect! mwah-ha-ha-ha
