I love gadgets. I especially love kitchen gadgets. I saw this egg timer on the Lee Valley Tools website, which has the most wonderful things btw, and knew I had to have one.

But Ann, why can’t you boil an egg?

eggs have become a thing with me. I have been in search of the perfect cooking method for eggs – specifically hard boiled eggs. Once I learned that the grayish ring was a no-no I had to banish it forever. There must be no grayish ring!

Making myself a bit crazy(ier) over this and perpetually consulting cookbooks and websites, I would find the perfect combination of eggs in before or after the boil and time, I would forget what they hell I did the next time I wanted to make eggs. what’s the matter with me??

sadly, these are the issues that grip my days.

I am happy to say that I have freed up loads of time with this little gizmo. You simply put it in the pot along with the eggs, fill with water, bring to a boil and simmer until it says it’s had enough. Life is so much simpler now.

now what should I obsess about?
