March is coming in like a lamb! We have been having some particularly fine weather. The last (hopefully!) of the snow has melted away. Daffodil bulbs are poking up in the garden and I am showing symptoms of spring fever.

What are the signs of early onset spring fever?

1. opening all windows even though it is only 54&#176 outside and the screens aren’t in place
2. wearing capris, even though it is only 54&#176 outside and you haven’t shaved since Labor Day
3. wanting to have a barbeque, even though it is only 54&#176 outside and there actually is a little patch of greyish, yellow snow right by the grill. ick!
4. driving with all the window down, even though it is only 54&#176 outside so you have to blast the heat and put on your bun warmer
5. imagining how this year it is going to be different, you will be an involved gardener and not only plant some flowers and veggies, but also water and weed them!
6. telling yourself that you are so excited to clean – that it will feel good.
7. projecting and plotting how much weight you are going to lose by Memorial Day!

what are some of your symptoms?

I saw this project for yarn flowers on Martha’s site last year, only managed to bookmark not make it. Looks cute and simple enough …

  1. My spring fever manifests itself by going to the garden center and cursing at them for still having their late winter/early spring annuals instead of the summer-blooming perennials that I really want! Maybe I’m jumping the gun, but I want to get that planting done while it’s still cool enough to work outside!

  2. Last Saturday it was in the 60s here–yeah, in Chicago at the end of February!–and I had to go to a liquor store to get some beer for some visiting relatives.

Suddenly I got all crazy and spent way too much on supplies for making tropical drinks, like it was summer already or something.

Now I have a lot of ingredients, but it will be a while before I can wear the Hawaiian sundress to go with those drinks…I could see my breath outside this morning!

  3. Forget New Year’s resolutions…. what about Spring Resolutions? I have all of your symptoms! But #5 is my #1 resolution. Here’s to Spring coming soon!!
