at last!!

I have knitting news!! I have finally finished one of the self striping socks. Not both, just one.

If you are a true knitting fiend it must be so painful to be a reader of my site . Such painfully slow progress such a long time between knitting content. As far as I can see one of two things must be true either: a. I owe you an apology – in which case I say ‘I’m sorry and will try to do better’ or b. you are just a masochist – in which case I say ‘what kind of sicko are you??’.

without further ado, may I present to you sock #1

You may want to think twice about clicking on the stitch detail link. I don’t know if it is my computer or Typepad, but that file is taking forever to load. There is a pattern that runs down the front of the sock to the start of the instep. It is lovely. However, I think it would be better served by a solid color yarn. The pattern, Friday Harbor, had a picture and the sock was knit in a multi colored yarn, but the colors were in the same family and it allowed the lacework to shine through.

All in all, I am happy with this sock – the project had a very rough start (misprints in the pattern, rusty needles). But once those initial hurdles were jumped figure of speech: no real jumping occurred during the knitting of these socks it is a fun project and I continue to be astounded by this whole self striping thing — boggles my mind!!

  1. Yay for a sock! And it looks great, too. (Have to say I LOVE your yoga post – I have a velcro cat who loves nothing more than bugging me while I’m on the floor…)

  2. hey ann im not too sure about that sock, what exactly does it go on ? i know i never have anything knitty to share :( but i saw this advert. in the paper today for a KNITTING WEBSITE http://www.simplyknitting.com its a store in syosset maybe they have rickis wool?! so there’s my contribution to your art! xo

  3. The slow loading is a Typepad problem. I’m experiencing it, and so are others. It is suggested that you fill out a help ticket…the more widespread the problem, the more info they will have to solve it, or so goes the theory. Sock looks lovely. Cast on that mate right away, and it will get done. And for the record, it is NOT painful to read your site. What else would I do while I am avoiding doing the things I should do?
