PurlingSwine has some shocking news.
Earthshattering really.
I am going to knit myself a sweater.
A Sweater for Me. not a shawl, not mitten, not a hat – a Sweater. And it shall be Banff.
Now that I have seen the Light of Gauge, I am a changed woman. (cue choir music)
I have knit a sweater or two for myself before – but it was long ago and far away and they really didn’t fit me properly. If you clicked on the Banff link, you will see that it is a big, comfy sort of sweater — hardly fitted by any stretch of the imagination. However, I am not going to blindly assume I need to make the large, I am going to measure.
So, not only am I going to swatch and measure my own work I will also need to measure myself.
I forecast the clicking of needles, snapping of tape & gnashing of teeth!

oooohhh!! i can’t wait to see!
any day now, you’ll be all “well, imma gonna spin this fiber up and then I think I’ll make up a fabby pattern to knit with it that will fit me like a kid glove!”
Isn’t the tied-up tee for you? When do we getta see!!??
Whatcha gonna knit Banff in? Stash or will we see you at Granny’s on the 18th?
Sound of hands clapping. Loud cheering. Attagirls. I’ll be watching eagerly.
A first sweater is a wonderful thing. I have knitted a few and you might want to make it the size of a favorite well-fitting sweater. Good luck.
