As most of you know, here at Purlingswine we spend endless hours laughing at/with our pug Lucy. Yesterday was especially funny. This picture was taken a few years ago. It encapsulates the hazards of the curly tail. Lucy had been walking through my weedy garden and got some stuck in her tail. Her tail is so tightly curled that these fronds stayed in place until we pulled them loose! I have posted this pic because it is the only one that shows her tail.

Yesterday was blazing hot and humid here. We were in the pool and brought our Pug in for a dip. If you own a pug, you know that the breed are notoriously bad swimmers. We held onto her the whole time. Even so, she was paddling. As her legs were working under the water, her tail came uncurled above the water and started rotating in a counter clockwise motion! A pug-rudder! I laughed so hard that I almost peed in the pool!

  1. Pool, pug, I am so jealous. You better quit telling cute stories about Lucy or I am going to bring a bigger knitting bag next time (and take her home). I am looking forward to next Friday. :)

  2. That’s so funny! The same thing has happened to Spencer – he’ll pull something along if it’s gotten stuck in his tail, though his isn’t quite as tight as a pug’s! It makes a funny looking rudder when he’s running.

At least you’ll never have to worry about that tail knocking things off a table!
