Here is the knitting news:

A dear friend asked me to knit a Berry Hat for an upcoming baby shower. This friend and I go way back, so the request is not the problem. She doesn’t like the recipient, wants to give the hat more in the spirit of ‘take that’ you evil so-and-so and she wants to pawn it off as her own work.

I am never above giving evil so-and-so’s their due. I relish the planning of such strategies, so much so that I fear I will never see the Pearly Gates. However, this plan is fraught with pitfalls. The first and foremost being that these women will be so overcome by the beauty of the hat and clamor for one of their own, that I will become ensnarled in an endless web of knitting to cover my dear friend’s lying ass!! So I think I shall knit the little cap, but only one shall be knit. And then she too will become a Chick with Sticks.

Actually, now that I think about it, it is the best plan ever! I shall indeed knit the thing of startling beauty. My friend will pawn if off as her own and bask in her ill-gotten glory. She will be caught unawares by the pleading of the multitudes – ‘please knit us one too’ they will cry. She will be forced to perfect the art (she is a newby to the craft) of knitting in order to maintain the ruse. A knitter will be born/hatched/spawned. pick your poison verb.

It’s perfect, I tell you, perfect! mwah-ha-ha-ha

  1. hmmm? knitting flames..or knitting halos? Only time will tell!
so THAT’s the true story behind our Pugs noses? Too much time pressed up against the dishwasher door, eh?

  2. How does it go: “oh what a tangled web we weave…” . I love it!! I also adore the hat! The recipient is “not worthy” of such a beautiful gift but your friend has just gotten tangled in the web. Great plan for both of you!! I think you got the better end of the deal.

  3. I hope to see this one in person when it’s done, now that we have finally met. I had the BEST time last night, being out amongst womenfolk was the right thing to do. Too many men in my house.

The berry hat would be a big hit in Orrville Ohio, amongst my clients at Smuckers.
