Wow!!

forget the porn, the political commentary – the best way to generate comments is to wonder about gender suitability as regards fruit caps!

My informal poll is showing the majority of the respondents believe that fruit caps are okay for boys. Especially pumpkin hats.

Yes to fruit caps. No to tutus.

not much news from these parts … The Boar & Daughter #1 are off on a college trip. They left yesterday afternoon for her tour of Stonehill today. I just heard from them – and our X (reader of purlingswine and entering freshman of Stonehill) was right – Daughter #1 loves it. They have finished the tour and are hoping to catch the ferry for home.

The good news is that she has liked every school we have seen. My SiL is in the administrative/admissions end of higher education. She and I have discussed the importance of seeing a variety of schools and the fact that there is more than one school that is right for you. I have known a number of kids who are highly invested in going to one particular college or university. Not that they shouldn’t have a favorite — but there should be more than one school on the list.

Tonight Daughter #2 and I have a date. We are doing something that my mother would never have done with me. This may or may not be a good thing.

I am taking my fourteen year old to a bar.

Yes, a bar.

It is a local establishment that features local talent. Daughter #2’s good friend is in a band and their debut performance is tonight.

So I will be clubbing with my youngest wild child. This is either:

1. a very good thing, a bonding experience and something that will move our relationship onto a deeper level or …..

2. the entrance ramp to the Highway to Hell.

  1. Hey, at least you’re going with her. At 14, I had been going to bars (without getting proofed) for two years.
Just make sure you point out how idiotic people look and act when they are drunk, and if you see anyone sloshed heading for the door, comment that you surely hope the sot isn’t getting behind the wheel!

  2. Did you take DD1 on college trips when she was a junior? I’m kind of wondering if I am falling behind with DS#2 and should I be taking him around before Junior Year starts?

And on the fruit caps, as cute as I thought they were, I am now unable to look as them, seeing as I have to go work at that client with the strawberry logo all next week. Smuckers in August, the scent of boiling strawberries hangs in the air…..

Clubbing with your kid, heh? I don’t know what to make of it. Melissa was trying to match your DD2 with my DS2, but the wildest thing I ever did with him was 5 hours of the Basically Bach in Manhattan one Sunday afternoon last year. He is a nice kid, but the first to admit he has a rather narrow taste in music at this point.
