join the campfire girls

When the Daughters were younger, I was a girl scout leader. I did this for many years and at one point was a leader for two troops. All in all it was a good experience and I have some very good friends from those days.

Early in the summer, these friends and I were sitting around laughing about all the funny things that happened on the various camping trips. We all agreed that it would be great fun to resurrect those days and have a camp out in one of our back yards.

Back at the end of May this seemed like a great idea.

The thermometer is reading 92&#176 — it is hazy, hot and humid.

Today is the day. Or tonight is the night.

I cannot believe that we are going to leave the air-conditioned comfort of our bedrooms for a sweaty little tent.

If I don’t laugh my ass off, there’s gonna be hell to pay.

  1. I hope you had diving contests in the pool. That was my favorite summer night game. We would have to walk up to the diving board singing, “I was walking in the park one day…” and someone would shout out a dive. I hope it was a terrific night.

  2. My daughter is 12 yrs old and is interested in joining Campfire Girls. She goes to Leicester Middle school. If anyone can tell us how to go about joining…that would be great!

    Thanks.
