Ode to Netflix

Supersizefinal_smallHave I waxed poetic about Netflix lately?

To tell you the God’s honest truth, I haven’t waxed much of anything lately.

Well, their prices have gone down!  And the service is still terrific!

John and I watched the movie Supersize Me – what an eye opener that was.  It is an entertaining look at the fast food industry and its effects on America’s health.  Sounds kind of grim, but it truly is entertaining and well worth watching. We all know the message – fast food is no good for us – but somehow the delivery in this movie strikes a chord.

John and I have very different taste in movies — his favorite genres invariably involve a character or two with something growing out of their foreheads and and/or large-busted women from other galaxies.  He also loves anything with high-tech mayhem.

As you can guess, he was not all that keen on watching Supersize Me.  But what could he do?  Our favorite Boar has a bad back and was laid out on the floor – hardly in a position to wrestle for dominion over the remote control.

Anyway, he enjoyed the movie – he really enjoyed the movie! No fight sequences, no explosions, no space ships and the three females were:

  1. a gastroenterologist
  2. a nutritionist
  3. a vegan chef

One word of caution:  if you do take my advice and see this movie then either eat dinner ahead of time, or know what you are planning to have.

And make it a healthy choice! you may never eat fast food again

  1. My hubby and I watched Supersize Me about two months ago and haven’t eaten fast food since. It really is an eye-opener and I would gladly recommend it to every person who has ever eaten at McDonalds even once in their life (especially the fries – that was truly scary). I do hate to say that due to the existence of grandparents my kids have eaten fast food a few times over the last few months. Grandma won’t believe us about fast food and refuses to see the movie (or abide by our decision to not eat fast food or feed it to our kids. When told about the experiment at the end with the burgers and fries and how the McD’s fries looked the same as the day they were made she made the remark that those preservitives MUST be a good thing since they keep food from going bad. My MIL – one of a kind.
