Today is my one year anniversary!  I started tinkering around with blogging on December 9th of last year, but got myself set up with Typepad on the 12th.  It’s hard to believe I have been at this for a whole year – until recently, I had a monthly subscription, not being sure how long I would keep this up.

Like many, if not all, of the bloggers out there, I must say that blogging has opened up a whole new world for me.  In this past year, I have met eight of the women whose sites I enjoy – two at the festival in Maryland, three right here in my own back yard and three more in Manhatten.  I would love to meet everyone on my blogroll!  There are so many who I feel connected to, like we have met, just through reading their blogs — many different backgrounds and life experiences but something in their writing just hits me at a certain level.

It’s very hard to explain, without sounding like a complete lunatic – but I do feel a level of friendship with people I have never met!  Internet friends — there has to be a better term for it — it makes me sound all pasty and white, a lonely, pathetic character whose only interaction is with her keyboard.  Truth be told, I am a bit pasty and white, but I’m not lonely or pathetic!  But what else to call it?  What label would accurately reflect these new relationships — something along the lines of pen pals.  Keyboard chums, blogging buddies, computer compadres, internet intimates  maybe not that last one!,

Whatever we call it, it is what it is — and that is a new circle of friends, which seems to expand on a weekly basis.  Visiting someone’s site and becoming a regular reader is in many ways similar to stopping by their house for a cup of coffee.

just stopping by to see what’s new with you ….

I’ll stop now, getting a bit carried away with myself …. I’d like to teach the world to blog … and all that …..

Suffice to say:  It’s been a year.  I like it.  You guys are great.

  2. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I just want you to know that after a very long hiatus, I took out some knitting needles today. Unbelievable!! I will start simple and the the usual scarf but I still can’t believe I am doing it. Mom is so proud and I figured I would share this with you. It’s been a very very long time and your blog inspired me. So congratulations are in order. Your enthusiasm and excitement has roped in a long lost knitter. Wish me luck.
