swines, they are a changin’

Pilates_machine Look what arrived yesterday afternoon!  It’s the pilates machine that MiL ordered for us!  In digging up that link, I just realized that it’s called The Reformer — geez, that’s a bit intimidating, no?  A bit cell block matron, femme warden.  (note to self: think of an appropriate name for her)  Oh well, I could use a little reformation.  I did 30 minutes of reforming this morning ….

It is 9° here today – and that is without the wind chill factored into the equation!  brrrr — there is plenty of blustering going on out there too – I can hear the wind pushing trash cans up and down the street.

Lucky me I get to stay home and work on that poncho.  I did indeed end up ripping back two rows.  Here is the strange thing:  it is a typical poncho pattern, calling for an increase row followed by a knit row.  There are four increases – in pairs of two around a center front line as well as a center back line.  I set a stitch marker at the beginning of the round so I would know if I was to increase or not.  When I frogged back, I did it a few stitches at a time, so I know that the stitch marker stayed in place.  But now when I need to increase on one side, I need to knit straight on the other — how did that happen?  I realize that this is a pretty lame and confusing explanation of my problem, but if you followed that and have any insights, please share.  Because the increases are so easy to see, this isn’t going to stop me from finishing, it is just bugging me in that way that unsolved puzzles do ….

  1. Gotta come over and use that Iron Maiden! As you know, I’m trying to follow Weight Watchers, however I’m having a problem. Scrolling through food lists to find point values is making me hungry and creating irresistable urges for foods I never even think of!

  2. It’s more freezing here in ohio. I hope the snow is kind and lets me come home tomorrow. Remember how unbusy I was at work last week? It’s over. Home Wednesday, working in NYC on Friday, and I’m hoping next week lets me catch my breath.

Back to WW and exercise when I get home, I promise, my January doldrums are OVER.

  3. The Reformer looks more like the torture device from the Middle Ages known as The Rack. Don’t hurt yourself figuring out how that monster works. I am looking forward to seeing the results the Reformer provides you. I have heard good things about Pilates. Now the question is can you workout in peace with the 5 dogs wanting to join in the fun? Post us a few photos of the Reformer in action!!!

  4. Weight Watchers Core Plan works! No points, No journaling! I had a nice piece of lean BBQ’d steak and a big baked sweet tater last night for dinner. Granted, I had to BBQ the freekin cow on the grill in the snow, but I didn’t have to count any points or write nothin’ down!

I’ve dropped 55#s so far. WW Works!

“Iron Maiden” works. Inga is another one. She’s big, She’s mean and she’s got Estonian calves, don’t mess with her!
