the farmer in the dell

I think all the cool bloggers are ganging up on me.

You know when the cool kids tell you they think you’re cool and interesting too, but in the meantime they are making you do crazy things and you do them because you don’t want to disappoint the cool kids? You want them to think that you are indeed cool and interesting, you want to believe it yourself?

So yesterday I got ‘tagged’ for the movie meme.  That whole ‘tagged’ verb wierds me out – remind me to tell you about my kindergarten terror of being the cheese that stands alone.  Christ I hated that game.

Anyway, so I get picked for the movie thing.  This is really not such a problem — I do in fact, feel cool when it comes to movies.  I am a regular customer at our local Cinema Arts Center.  I am something of a movie snob — I love subtitles!

Now however, there is an ill wind blowing here at Chez Swine.  I have been tagged for a music meme.

People who know me in ‘real’ life will attest to the fact that I surround myself with music — I have played and continue to play piano, cello, harmonica – I have dabbled with the flute  Our satellite television gets all kinds of music channels that I listen to.  I know the words to many songs — many, many songs that I will sing with the slightest provocation.

But to answer questions about music?  Which CD’s have I bought?  Music files?  I really don’t know — I just turn on the radio.  Behind this internet curtain, there is indeed no wizard, no cool, interesting blogger —

1.) Total amount of music files on your computer:  I don’t know what this questions means.  I have no idea if my computer has music files, came with music files, or if this is something I would have installed.  So I guess my answer is none.

2.) The last CD you bought was: I think it was Broken English by Marianne Faithfull or it could have been something by the Dixie Chicks.

3.) What is the song you last listened to before reading this message? something on the radio last night.

4.) What are your five favorite songs and why they mean the most to you:  The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace, and anything from the 70’s that reminds me of my youth!

  1. No one could be musically uncooler than me. I actually drove home today happily listening to a cd I purchased on ebay of an obscure 40 part voice motet-40 voices singing 40 different parts. I’m the complete opposite of you, I rarely listen to the radio because there’s never anything I like on it. I buy CDs, but I have to buy them online because not even borders carries the stuff I like.

  2. I LOVE music, but I am terrible with names of groups and songs. I love to sing, but won’t do it if anyone is around because I’m tone deaf. I know the words to many Classic Rock songs; I know every word to American Pie.

Between all my computers and juke boxes (portable harddrive devices) I probably have close to a Terabyte (Tb) of music files. That is One Trillion Bytes of Music, or 1,024 Gigabytes (Gb).

My favorite genre is Classic Rock, but I like Blues, Jazz, some Big Band, some 50’s, some Blue Grass, but NOT Country Western, some Classical, Folk, Irish Folk.

I will get Spring/Summer fever and roll down the window and crank the radio on occasion.
