The Fiestaware Plate calls for an I-cord bind off. Having never done this technique before, I did a bit of searching to find directions. If you are like me, you learn best with visual directions. Daughter #2 manned the camera ….
- The stitches to be bound off are on the left needle
- Cast on 3 stitches onto the left needle
- *Knit 2, knit 3rd stitch together with next stitch from body, slip the 3 stitchess back onto left needle and repeat from *
I really like the detail of this bind off. It is perfect for the plate edge, but it would make a great edging for anyone not knitting place settings!

I just loves me a good slide show!
My best to Onslow . . .
I love the slide show. Very cool.
So freakin’ smart with the slideshow! You are too much. I love the look of the icord bind off but haven’t done one myself….
Oh man! I didn’t read up to the part about the bind-off in that pattern… I wish I had paid more attention! Yours looks like a bona fide yarn-plate.
I just wanted to let you know that I used your instructions and pictures to add a nice i-cord edge to a felted bag I made for Christmas.
Thanks!
Thank you Thank you! I was knitting a tote/bag/purse for my great aunt and it called for an i cord bind off and i couldn’t get it reading the book instructions, so i googled it and to my suprise something came up. I found out i was trying to knit the first stich of eadge and last cast on with out knitting the first two, well you can imagin what a mess that was.
Your explanation of the I-cord bind-off is the best!!! Thanks!!
Thank you so much for the instructions on I-cord bind-off. I did the same thing you did and googled for better instructions than my pattern provided. Your instructions were great and I love the bind off.
This rocked. I would have been here for a month trying to figure this out. Thank you.
Help! Your slide show is gone. I need to finish a project with an I cord bind off and the directions aren’t clear enough for me to simply read them and then complete the steps. Can you re-post your slide show?
