best of breed – my mutts!

Before I begin I would like to say, "Hey Mindy, did you catch the Daily Show today?  Jon devoted a whole segment to bloggers and the blogging phenomena.  Of course, he was talking about cutting edge political blogs and their effect on mainstream journalism — but it won’t be long for the knit blogs!"

Do you know any mothers who say they love all their children equally?  Do you believe them?  Do you have more than one child?  Do you harbor a secret?  Do you feel somehow different from these simpering women who claim to be as blind as justice when it comes to loving their children?

Well, I don’t love my daughters equally – they move in and out of favor depending on their behavior and my mood.  Of course, being a nurturing, wonderful mother, I make every effort to conceal these whims from my progeny.  sometimes I am successful.  sometimes they like The Boar better than me.  it’s okay.

I do not extend this courtesy to my dogs.

It has come to my attention that I have not devoted enough attention to my pack of slathering beasts  dogs.  The full extent of my canines.  That I have readers out there who have no idea that I have many dogs – too many dogs.

I have five dogs.

I have favorites.

Everyone knows it.  Including them I think!

The ones you read about here, no matter how much I bitch and moan about them, are my favorites.  I love them best.  Do not assume that this means they are my best dogs – indeed, they are not.  My best dogs are the ones I ignore — they are faithful, loyal, basically well behaved.  They are in good health.  They are no trouble at all.  These dogs represent all those ‘nice’ boys we should have dated.  These dogs would make great husbands!  They are wonderful – everyone should have dogs like these.

So here they are – the dogs you never hear about – the best dogs in the world!

Bridget & Daisy

I pet them, I feed them, I take them to the vet. I throw the ball for them. Their only sin? they don’t have smushed in noses and bulging eyes – they aren’t high maintenance!

  1. FINALLY ann admits that bridget and daisy are THE BEST dogs in the household. this is something her brother and i have known for years. we love bridget and daisy
we know the truth and we try our best to make up for what they miss when we visit which means we ignore those smushed nosed, bug eyed beasts.

but my question is why the revelation? regardless i am happy for the epiphany and hope that this means that she will now give bridget and daisy their due ;-)

  2. Those simpering women who love their children equaly and live only for theeir childrenyou know what I think they are? LIARS LIARS LIARS. Anyone who tells me they joy and total completeness they found frompregnact and child birth and child rearing are toally lying and I hold my purse closer wondering if they’re thieves too. I live in the real world I think my kids are totaly great and I love them but sometimes I don’t. like you they come and go in my favor. Plus I like one dog better then the other but she likes me best too. That’s life I guess and being human. Unlike your simpering friends I’m humanand I doubt I’ll change. I know I’m scary big and scary. Hey I didn’t know you had dogs, I thought you were a pot bellied pig girl?

  3. Ann! Long time no comment! Thank you for the welcome back :)

It is the same Hill Country Weavers… but sadly, I will only have pics of the yarn, not the shop. I love taking yarn shop pics when I am with another knitter, but on my own… it seems somehow seedy…

No MDS&W??!! :( Really? :( :( But, but… who will I hang with? Who will *enable* me to buy lots of stuff?? Who *else* will have a cool blogger bag? {sigh}Say it ain’t so.

  4. Truth be told, I never know which is which of those two but they are exceptional dogs. But Moe is endearing with that heel biting. Lucy, I couldn’t begin to count the ways I adore her. And Poe, he is just so freaking cute. You should get a sound wav of his sneeze!

  5. Hmm, I’m a few repeats behind you on my Clapotis and am also encountering the yardage issue. I had seen a few comments on this on the blogs of others so bought a full 200 yrds extra at the begining and I *still* think I may run out. Extremely irritating especially since it’s a good 40 minute trip to the shop each way. Grrrr. I agree, with as many pepole as have encoutered this, there should be a note with the pattern.
Glad to see Oswald is well again.

  6. Look, I am like the comment stalker! Oswald! That’s the big blue “thing” on Nick Jr! Onslow! :) And his dog Weenie. Sigh. And the penquin that sounds like Squiggy from Laverne and Shirley.

  7. Am I to extrapolate from your frequent mentions of the Boar, that he is NOT the nice guy you SHOULD have married? Or are you more sensible about your men than your dogs? :)
