this and that

Clapotis_008 It is smorgasbord of photos here at Chez Swine!

For your viewing pleasure allow me to present a finished Clapotis …. using 840 yards of Berroco Suede.  Still pissed over that yardage issue, but thrilled with the result!

Next up – the result of cheating on blog contests and then leaving all kinds of witty, slightly acerbic comments on everyone’s site.  It would seem that I was the 2500 comment on Margene’s wonderful site. You should go to her site when you are in need of wisdom and guidance – come here for your daily dose of chaos and confusion!  This is what arrived in my mailbox yesterday — thank you so much Margene!

Gorgeous stitch markers and point protectors along with a lovely note and Knit sticker!

I have been so fortunate meeting many many lovely and interesting people in blogland! Perhaps it is time I gave back to this universe …. after I return from our trip I will work up a contest of my own!

Clapotis_005 There is a new knitter amongst us!  On the left are Lucy’s (of my comments) talented hands.  Not only does she give great haircuts, she picked right up on knitting!  Lucy swore she couldn’t knit.  That others had tried and failed.  That she was incapable.  Did I believe her?  Did I have faith in her innate talents?  sort of.  How was I so certain that she could and would be able to knit?  My own massive ego knew that I could teach her!  And, I was right!!  **tee-hee – of course you know that I am only joking (yeah right!)**  She also swears she can’t swim.  We will be taking care of that this summer!

A week or so ago, I came across this fishing tackle box.  I do love old metal or wooden boxes and tins — did you notice that cool little tin from Margene?!  Anyway, I fell in love with this tackle box and am using it to organize some knitting supplies.  Do you see my cool sheepy tape measure from Kathleen?

  1. Your Clapotis turned out beautifully! I’ve never used Seude, but I’ve fondled it many a time in the store – I’m sure you’ll love it in Clapotis. :)

  2. Clapotis is STUNNING, and I’m sure it feels just yummy. That yardage business really stinks – – have you checked the Knitty messageboards? There’s a thread specifically for Knitty patterns, and since this has come up for so many people, I’m sure it’s being talked about. I’ll probably clock in at 7.5-8 skeins myself, though I’m knitting it at 6 spi. Right now the straight rows seem ENDLESS, but I don’t want to crap out early and then not wear it because it’s too short.

Missed the blog story the other night, dang it. I usually only make it through about half the show these days; actually, some nights I’m lucky if I’m up that late at all.

  3. gee ann, ya think that pic makes me look fat? IM LOVING THE KNITTING! My boys are all wanting the purple scarf! I will need to make 2 more!
Your suede shawl came out beautiful! And You will be beautiful and chic wearing it on vacation! I <3 my teacher!

  4. Is Clapotis posed atop the chair I was sitting on the other day? The chair where Moe snuked? That’s sneeze and puke for those not familiar with the terminology. ;) Great stuff from Margene and the Clap looks hot.

  5. C’est une clap magnifique! If I remember any French after all this time.

How does it feel when you wear it, I bet it has an elegant drape to it. Maybe a photo of my clap this weekend. I’m off to knit a bit on it. Thanks for the IM tip, I did the purl in place of stitch markers this morning after you validated things for me online.
