I have counted and re-counted – countless times in fact! I have consulted the SnB ladies, Ricki, Peggy & Kathleen. I have a call out to Snowball and have been intensely scrutinizing Wendy’s pictures.
I keep arriving at the same conclusion. The first lace chart of the Irish Diamond Shawl is not completely centered. After the initial yo row, the following rows all have five stitches on one side (right side of the printed pattern chart) of the lace pattern and six on the other. wtf?
am I losing my mind, or will this all make sense in the end?
Beats me. But I’d trust the pattern if others have knit it before you without a problem.
Of course there’s no way I can remember back that far as to the knitting of it. I’ll take a look at the book and see what I can see.
Is this from Folk Shawls? Cause I know the publisher has an errata sheet on the web, and I may have seen the Irish shawl on it. Maybe that’s why!?
There is indeed an errata for the Irish diamond shawl.
And there is a correction on the first row. It’s for a left out yo. That’s the address for the errata….
