natural dye!

Poke berries, with some cranberries thrown in for good measure! If you look through my flickr account, you will see some black walnuts, tansy, marigolds and goldenrod brewing. It was another great workshop hosted by the guild and put together by Diane.   Diane truly worked her arse off for this day and it showed  – everything was wonderful.  Even the weather cooperated and we all had a great time.

[poke berries brought to us by Patty E. — thanks Patty, and fyi I gave you all most of the credit!]

Facebook, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!

is there anything more debasing than a middle aged woman trying to take self portraits for her facebook profile picture? I know it’s overexposed — I like it that way! Did you guys hear about this news story?  good grief.

I am off for a fabulous day with my spinning guild — we are having a workshop in natural dyeing! I have remembered to pack my camera along with all the other gear so you can expect a photo or two at the very least!

hope your Sunday is a good one too!

things I am making

Just off the needles is this Paper Moon Hat. It is a gift for a friend who is undergoing chemo treatments. Bianca was out on a date, so I had to step in for the model shot. I love this hat and plan on making more.  I was working on this in a Starbucks recently and a woman who was sitting across the way told me it was the best hat she had ever seen.  How’s that for an endorsement?  The knitterly details can be found on my Ravelry page.

Like the rest of the movie going public, I have had some kitchen inspiration!  In addition to Meryl Streep providing motivation, the weather has turned chilly and that always gets me back to the stove.  Here are some tasty tasty food links:

great. after re-living all of that culinary greatness, now I am hungry. And the cupboards are bare!
