Shall I tell you a story?
Once upon a time, oh last week sometime…..the Wednesday before Thanksgiving let’s say, the phone rang in our heroine’s kitchen (fyi heroine=purlingswine). It was Purlingswine’s good friend Claire. Perhaps dear readers, you remember her ….
It would seem that once again, our Claire was on the wrong side of the law — this time with another suspended license! Now, the astute and scientific minded among you may start to see an emerging pattern …… but I assure you, this time it was also not Claire’s fault. Let me make that perfectly clear — Claire is in no way responsible for her 2nd suspended license – this is terribly important for you to understand – and I have a hunch that Claire will want to have a post all to herself explaining this phenomena.
But, back to me – Claire can get her own damn blog.
So, let’s see …. there I was being busy with Thanksgiving preparations when the phone rings and it’s Claire. She needs to go to the DMV to get her license situation dealt with, if she didn’t do it then, when would she ever get around to it? I offer to go with her, but only if we can stop at AC Moore for yarn purchases. I am a good friend.
Did you know that the Department of Motor Vehicles Traffic Violations section is virtually empty the day before Thanksgiving? Where are all the outlaws? All the traffic violators are on the roads on their way to Grandma’s house!
Our Miss Claire threw herself on the mercy of New York State and pled guilty – yet issued many a caveat to the girl behind the window that even though she, Claire wasn’t going to fight the tickets, they really weren’t her fault and that although the Great State of New York might not understand, did she, the government worker understand? Thankfully for all our sake’s, she did.
After our stop at the DMV, off we went to AC Moore where Claire helped me pick out the fabulous colors for my Hayden Hat. Our Claire may be a menace to society, but boy oh boy, can she pick colors! She is possessed of crayola vision. Even the most hardened criminals have some redeeming qualities. She has a flair for color and I threw myself into her competent hands (although I did the driving!).
I told her that I would post pictures of my hat progress today and that she would weep when she saw the beauty of the colors. She inquired if she would be getting the credit? Of course!
Purlingswine is nothing if not honest — and that is the story of Claire picking the colors of my hat.
I lied, here are puppy pictures, just because he’s so damn cute!
