Tied-Up-Tee is ready for blocking! I have seen the blocking light – thanks to ChicKnits! Once it is seamed, I need to decide what to make/use for the lacing – I-cord or something else? I am leaning toward the something else option. I think that the I-cord might look too heavy, especially on the sleeves. What do we think about thin leather laces? This sweater is intended for one, horse crazy daughter, whose favorite jeans have leather lacing at the leg hem …..

This sweater is among one of the first items that I have actually thought about before knitting. I have been knitting for twenty years, but most of that was spent just following patterns – I was a sheep! Now I am starting to really think about what I am doing and how it will effect the end result. I owe most of this to my blog reading. Never before did I consider a selvage edge, the advantage of a decrease over a bind off and the slant of that decrease as a design element. Although this sweater may be little more than stockinette stitch, it represents a lot more. While it is blocking, I am going to do a bit of research on the many seaming techniques …..

What a weekend! Here is a picture of what we did on Sunday. That is daughter #2 on Spencer. We were at a schooling event.

While we were there, I took pictures of my latest ‘quickie’. woo-hoo! you guys have filthy minds!!

We made a day trip to PA on Monday for an large family party. These are pictures of a berry hat I knit for my cousin’s new baby. Production on The-Tied-Up-Tee was halted while I cranked it out.
strawberry_hat1strawberry_hatIt is a Fiber Trends Pattern called A Berry Cute Hat. I used yarn from my stash – I believe it is a wool/acrylic blend. I also have their pumpkin hat pattern which I would have preferred to make, but had no orange in the stashaster. I am planning on making a few more of these – it occurs to me that it would be a good thing to have a few baby gifts at the ready rather than engaging in last minute, frantic knitting. The hat was met with rave reviews.
The recipient slept through the whole party, so I didn’t take any pics of her wearing it — it is much too big at the moment anyway.

The Boar and I travelled by train for the day. We did not want to battle traffic. It was a great way to travel and added to the adventure. We were however, lucky to get seats on the trip home. The train was packed and a couple of people were standing the whole way from Philadelphia to Penn Station. If I was one of them, I would not be happy. I got a lot of knitting done. Finished sleeve #1 of the T-U-T and am 1/3 of the way up sleeve #2. Then onto blocking and seaming!

The party that we traveled for was in honor of cousin’s 40th wedding anniversary. They are actually my 1st cousins-once-removed/second cousins — whatever — I never did have a grasp on the difference. They are my mother’s first cousins. It was terrific to see everyone. Despite the crappy weather, all were having fun!
