Here is how it happened that a spinning wheel came home with me:

As we have previously established, I made a proclamation to not buy a wheel. On Saturday at the Festival I came down with wheel fever and narrowly escaped winning one at the auction. Everyone I spoke with was crazy about spinning – and I mean possessed by it. I buy a drop spindle and settle myself down.

Sunday – the last day. We got to the site early — it was much less crowded. This afforded closer views of wheels – chances to try wheels.

I am still settled and not in a sweat.

Peggy and I buy funnel cake. We sit on a bench in the sun to enjoy it. We sit next to a woman named Aggie from North Carolina.

She has the fever.

And so does her friend who is on her other side.

They tell me about a vendor who has the cheapest prices – they tell me about the best wheel.

I think I was sitting too close to them – I caught the bug.

Because I am leaving tomorrow and will not return until Sunday, the wheel remains in the box. Did I mention I named her Proud Mary?

things I brought home with me

rovingIf you click on the thumbnail, it will create a larger picture.

I did not bring the cat home. That is one of our two cats. His name is Nick and he is quite the character – whenever there is a box or bag on the floor, he positions himself. He loves it. He is the funniest thing – so cute, so zany ……

what? whaddya mean, shut up about the cat already?, I thought you people liked cat pics —

what?? oh, the picture – yeah, that’s the stuff I bought – except for the MSWF backpack I forgot to put it in the pic. Take a quick look and then we’ll get back to talking about Nick the Cat.

I know! — no yarn, can you believe it?

that stuff???, well that stuff is called roving – it is what yarn is before it is spun.

it’s for my new drop spindle — remember I told you about that yesterday?

yeah – it does seem like a lot of roving — maybe I’ll be really good at the drop spingle.

The Box? what box? right, right, the box the cat is sitting on…..yeah, I bought that too.

okay, just a quick peek and then we get back to Nick – okay?

len

so, like I was telling you, that cat is crazy!

weekend continued …

I cannot tell you how busy it was on Saturday. We arrived early, at 8:30 and stayed until closing at 6:00. It was full up with vendors, animals, exhibitors and people! There seemed to be thousands of people. The weather was sunny & hot. Right off the bat I met Chelsea! She is one of my favorite bloggers — there is a picture in the photo album (check it out in the sidebar). She spotted my purlingswine totebag. She is just as great in person as on her site! When you read someone’s site, you feel like you know them. So to meet in person is a bit surreal — here is someone that you ‘touch base’ with every week, possibly every day and you’ve never laid eyes on them! I introduced her as my friend and we had only just met – but I really meant it!! She is terrific! Chelsea was off to take a class, so we said we would meet up later.

What a moronic thing to say.
