I have another link to share with you from the Bean Counter. I have been using so much of her good stuff lately that maybe I should just redirect my site traffic directly to her!! She posted this great link to day of The Exorcist with Bunnies. If anyone still has nightmares about that movie, this should get rid of them for good! Nothing like a couple of bunnies!
It has been a quiet and dull day here at purlingswine – not much worth mentioning. I did manage to spend $510 in one fell swoop.
How did I spend so much money and find it not worth mentioning? I took my car into the service station to get what I thought was a slow leak fixed on a rear tire. Slow leaks have been a continuing problem that I blame squarely on having a horse and always driving down rutted, rocky driveways etc. Turns out it was not a slow leak exactly – in fact it was a peppy sort of leak. It was a previously repaired slow leak that had gotten the upperhand. So I am the proud owner of four new tires. I hate spending money on crap like that. How much yarn would that have bought? How many kitchen appliances? How many purses?
Speaking of spending $$ on yarn, I would like to direct your attention to the new wool pig button appearing in the sidebar. This was designed by Abby and our favorite Yarn Harlot has begun to define the term:
You might be a Wool-Pig if….
…you have ever bought new yarn rather than use well established stash yarn.
…you are teaching someone to knit and you generously give them a ball from your own stash (after selecting one you think is sub-standard, or lying to them about the qualities of the yarn they chose “no, no…that merino is way to scratchy for a hat”)
…you have knit, and will keep forever things that you will never…ever wear, just because you liked the wool.
…you have ever bought yarn only because you heard a rumour it was going to be discontinued.
…you have ever bought yarn only because another knitter was looking at it and there was only 10 skeins left and you didn’t want her to have it.
…you have yarn that is sitting in the stash waiting for a project that is “worthy” of it.
…you have lied about yarn possession.
…you find it difficult, impossible or painful to give away yarn.
I am a wool pig. With a trip to the Maryland Sheep & Fiber Festival coming up, this situation is only going to get worse – or better, depending on how you look at it.
I know new tires aren’t exciting, but think of it as health insurance – your safety depends on them. My brother always said, “Take care of your car, and your car will take care of you.” Corny, I know, but true in a maddening way. I can’t wait to hear about the Sheep and Wool Festival – be sure to take lots of pictures for me! While I do have a substantial stash, and I have bought new yarn rather than use stashed yarn, I don’t think I’m a yarn pig because I’m usually more than willing to give yarn away if it isn’t stuff that I’m really attached to. You’re a generous sort too, so I doubt you are a yarn pig either!
Haha I loved that Exorcist Bunny link!! Good stuff :)
I love your blog–so many fun things to check out (not the least of which being the projects)! I too am a wool-pig, and may you and I both have fabulous luck at finding many sweet deals at the MD S&W
Hey, Ann! Love your site! Will visit it frequently! Let’s get together and compare stashes; maybe I have something you want and visa versa! I am definitely a wool pig!
love ya! Harriet
