Here is the picture I wanted to show you the other day when D#2 did NOT misplace the cable thingy. Vicki sent a package to mark our one year Quit Smoking Anniversary. The socks are cozy, the candy was delicious, but how damn cute is that pot holder?!! How about the money shot? Thank you Vicki!

Yesterday was spent at my spinning lesson. We have one more left – last week is the last one. I can’t believe it’s been six weeks already. What a difference they have made. I can’t say exactly what I’ve learned, but I have certainly taken my spinning up a notch or two and have also put that beginner’s nervousness behind me.These lessons have had less to do with technicalities and more with the ‘feel’ of the fiber. One of yesterday’s highlights was that I got to try out Peggy E’s Norm Hall wheel. If you are not a spinner, this wheel is one of spinning’s Holy Grails. Hers is the saxony model and not a castle wheel like my Lendrum. I did not like this arrangement. I could not get used to the fiber going off to the left and my hands felt as though they were tripping over each other. I have made a mental note to only try and get my hands on a Norm Hall Castle wheel. : )

Did you know I am getting company tomorrow? I have to trot along and start cleaning …..

  1. How awesome that you got to try that wheel. And, you learned that you don’t like Saxony style. I like both Castle and Saxony and go back and forth between the Lendrum and the Reeves. Although, the Reeves is truly my baby. Man, I love that wheel. I’m really glad that your lessons have gone well and you feel like you’ve improved in your spinning.
    Have a blast with Cara!

  2. Thank you so much for posting pics of that potholder — especially the “money shot” (it’s my favorite part) — I never took a snapshot for my album!! I still can’t believe it’s been a whole frickin’ year!! Woo.

I’m so excited that Cara’s going to be your guest!! Can’t wait to hear all about your adventures.

  3. Yeah, I’ve heard great things about those Norm Hall wheels, but yes, have only spun on castle wheels. As much as I love the look of the Saxonys, I like the “centered” spinning of the castle wheel. One of these days, I’ll try one!

  4. Nice anniversary gift! :-)

I can’t wait to see pictures of the Purlingswine/January One adventure!

That’s great about the spinning. Now I know that I’ll have to find spinning classes – you know, when I decide to take on another addiction! :-)
