The Boar and I did yard work this weekend. What I hope is the last leaf bagging extravaganza for the year. And as usual, we vowed that next year we would hire landscapers to do it. We shall see when the time comes if we make good on our threats ……
I also managed to make a big dent in the Christmas Shopping list. I was beginning to panic slightly because not only had I not gotten much shopping done, I didn’t have any ideas about what to buy. Yes, I am one of those annoying do-ahead people. Don’t hate me – you should be grateful for people like me – that makes one less body, one less pair of elbows to bump into at the mall on the day after Thanksgiving! I spent a few hours on the laptop – thank God for online shopping – how did we ever manage without it? Do you know of any especially good sites? Here is one of my faves.
Speaking of Thanksgiving …. a list of upcoming happy good things:
- D#1 gets home tomorrow!! I can’t wait to see her!!
- This is the first time in a long while that I will not be doing the basting. We will be going to my MiL’s for our turkey dinner. I am totally enjoying the prospect!
- I am also looking forward to making Aunt Mabel’s Cranberry Pie Cake and taking it over to MiL’s house.
gobble, gobble!
Hey I’m with you. my Chriustams shopping is done and everything is hidden in my studio closet. Santa stops buy early. Now between now and Christams my kids can’t see any more toy books.
I’m a shop aheader too. Don’t do crowds. I do about 90% of my shopping on-line & yeah, what did we ever do without it? I bought mostly everything I need to get from stores. Now bring on the food!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Ann!
Isn’t it nice to be served? Good for you.
I’m totally with you on the online shopping. The only battle is with the post office.
Yard…….work? Christmas…..shopping? I know the words, I just can’t figure out what they mean….
I’ve been known to buy Christmas presents from a 7-11 Christmas Day. It was eons ago, but do you think anyone forgets? Nooooo.
Oh. My. That cranberry cake looks good, along with the cauliflower souffle. Think I’ll test them out tonight.
I’m under the belief that Christmas is still too far away for me to think about. We did have the great hungry hordes over Saturday for our feast of fried turkey. Yummy.
As for bagging leaves, the great City of Fairfax comes around with a big vacuum truck and sucks up the piles…now if we can just get the leaves to the curb we’d be set.
I really need to get on the stick with my Christmas shopping!
Enjoy D#2 Enjoy Thanksgiving Enjoy PieCake
I can’t believe I haven’t started shopping, baking or leaf raking. Somebody Help me.
I’m supposed to be making something like cranberry relish or sauce, but I’m liking that pie cake a whole bunch!
I can’t believe I didn’t comment yesterday. I think I followed your favorite shopping link (fabulous!) and then ordered an item from another link that was on my list! It’s time to stop dilly-dallying with the shopping!! Last night, I was asked about when I’d put the tree up… I hadn’t given it a single thought ’til then. Oy.
Did you try making the cranberry cake yet? Do you serve it out of the pie pan or do you flip it like updide down cake? Also there is no leavening agent in the batter? are the eggs enough to give it a rise. Sounds like a yummy way to use up some of those cranberries I buy every year to lurk in my freezer forever…..
