This week has been busy! First off, I re-joined this. I went with Flair and Lisa for what is becoming our annual rejoin. We have all made solemn vows and on this, the second day of the program, I for one can say so far, so good. If nothing else, it is always loads of fun to see these two and the meetings give us a definite date night each week.

Another thing adding to the feeling of stress for the week is major sleep deprivation. I had to have a big talk with someone
about what a pug can reasonably expect from his humans at 4 in the morning. This lecture was preceded by me chasing him around the yard in the pitch black in my grandma nightie and flip flops with a flash light and the whip (yes, the whip) doing that whisper screaming thing …..

I did take time to relax and have fun at this. Oh Spinning Guild, how I love thee. This month’s meeting was a spin in – no program, just sitting, spinning and gabbing. I met a few new members, one was Christine – very cool chick who may have fallen in love with my Lendrum and Woolie Winder!

Today’s excitement …….It is D#1’s 20th birthday!! We shall be celebrating with some shopping and dinner at a restaurant of her choosing. I simply refuse to believe she is that old. So let’s all agree to wish her a happy 15th, shall we?

this and that …..

Have you seen this? I wonder if they are accepting applications? [thanks to Carol for the morning laugh!]

also thank you all for your parallel parking commiserations! It seems I am in good company and it’s no wonder the parking lots are always so full with all of us parallel-challenged drivers. I found this site with a tutorial – I am going to give it a try. I never knew about that third step where you straighten the tires! I always turn them first the one way and then the other. Maybe that’s been my trouble all along …..

at last!

this morning brought thunderstorms and rain – do you suppose Mother Nature reads my blog and read my bitching yesterday? I was watching this morning’s news and some areas of Long Island had flash flooding. We must have received the outer edge of whatever they got.

Did I tell you that D#2 has taken my camera? She was invited to go to Maine with a girlfriend who has a family cabin up there. She asked if she could take it and of course I said okay – she is a much better photographer than I. (Guess what she’s getting for Christmas ….. or graduation?). Anyway that leaves me with a the other camera and I don’t believe I can do justice to Babette with it. I mean, I can’t do justice to it with the camera D#2 took! So fiber pictures shall have to wait until next week. Or until I can’t stand it anymore.

Speaking of D#2, she did not pass her driver’s test. : ( She was temporarily devastated. The tester told her she was a really good driver and he wished he could pass her, but she hit the curb during the parallel parking phase. ergh! She has scheduled a re-test for September and my friend Peggy is going to give us some intensive parallel parking lessons.

Yes, us. Did you know that this is genetic? Hadn’t you heard I can’t parallel park? I avoid it at all costs and won’t drive to places if I think I will have to do it. I have been known to do it, and sometimes do it well, but it is such a hit or miss proposition that I try very hard to never have to do it. Yes, I know Onslow is so small, I could just get out and lift him into the spot! So Peggy has volunteered to give both me and D#2 some lessons! she is a brave woman whose lobotomy scar hardly shows at all! I kid, I kid! you can kind of see it when she wears her bangs to the side! ;)

how about some kitchen pigs?

Here is section 8. I am in love with this pattern and this yarn!

Today I am taking D#2 for her driver’s license. I have checked and rechecked all of the paperwork and believe that everything is in order – I don’t want a repeat of the last time I took a daughter for her test! keep your fingers crossed!

In other news, I am exhausted. Ladies I hate to break this to you, but Mr. Boar has a dark side. I know he seems wonderful but there is something I haven’t told you.

Mr. Boar is a serial snooze alarmer. His alarm began going off at 4:15 this morning and proceeded to go off every 10 minutes. I finally growled at him and got out of bed myself at 5:00. Boar followed shortly after but it wasn’t my own ire that got him up, it was Lucy’s! After I left the room, she got all upset because she couldn’t follow me. The bed is too high and the room too dark for her to jump down unassisted and so she paced around the bed and panted until he helped her! Since the air conditioner was on, he even had to go so far as to open the door for her. I guess that was enough to get his day started.

I know that maybe I should take a hint from Lucy and get him out of bed with pacing and panting, but we all know that that would lead to a whole other can of worms!
