Thank you for all your kind wished on my MiL’s behalf. It turns out that her broken wrist is a god send. During the stress test, her heart rate went even lower and so today she is getting a pace maker with the wrist surgery now set for Thursday. Her fall was most likely due to her low heart rate and it is damn lucky that she was only on the bottom rung of the ladder and not the top, nor behind the wheel of her car ….. countless horrible scenarios.

And now for some earthly delights ……

good things in the mailbox!

Here we have color cards from Beaver Slide and a package from Margene!! The color cards were in the weekend’s mail and the box was waiting on my front porch when I got home from work last night.

I was all set to tear into it and then remembered Cara’s pictures of herself, a birthday package and the daily newspaper during her birthday countdown last year. So I restrained myself. Unfortunately, I only have a weekend susbscription to our newspaper, so how about this for my countdown instead? ; )

**my calendar is generated by my palm pilot. I really don’t celebrate Roosevelt’s birthday …… I swear! now I have to run along and go walk Fala.

ouch!

We had some excitement around here this weekend – and not the good kind. On Saturday Boar got a call from his mother saying that she had fallen and was sure her wrist was broken. Off to the ER.

Angie was coming off a ladder and had one foot on the ground and the other on the bottom rung. Somehow in turning, she lost her balance. xray revealed not only did the wrist break, but the bones slid past one another in the impact. ick. The first attempt was to set it and then re-xray it to see how things were looking.

Things were looking like she should have surgery to set it with pins. So she was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night with the thought that surgery would be Sunday. The cardiologist was not happy with her low heart rate and ordered a stress test before the surgery. MiL has always had a low heart rate, is very aerobically fit and this was no surprise. However the stress test can not be performed until today.

When we went to see Angie yesterday she seemed happy enough, even though she was stuck in the hospital with nothing happening. She does a lot of volunteer work for the hospital and she was checking out what all of her guild’s fundraising had reaped.

why was she on the ladder in the first place? she was painting her kitchen. When I offered to paint her kitchen for her after she gets sprung – she just kind of stared blankly at me. Had I forgotten my place? in the world of our painting life, she is the master – and she hates the way I cut in!

a box

Over the weekend, this giant box was brought up from the basement. Here is list of what I have been able to find out ….

  • it is something I will want. Not anything that I’ve said I’ve wanted.
  • it is heavy.
  • it was D#2’s idea
  • once they got it, the Boar took it into his workroom to customize it
  • when Boar went shopping for the customization, he went to Home Depot, but said that if they didn’t have what he needed, he would go to Kohl’s.
  • it is not in the box it came in
  • it is in a wooden box inside the box (see picture taken through carry handle hole in side of box that didn’t get covered in wrapping paper)
  • in order to get it, D#2 did something that was out of the ordinary for her
  • Boar and D#2 have been cooking this up for a few weeks.
  • D#1 has just gotten in on it since she is home from college

any guesses?

blogging may be light for now. I am working extra hours at the shop this week and company arrives this weekend. I need to throw things into high gear if I am going to be ready ….. of course, if any more clues come to light, things will be updated immediately!
