and they sing – in unison!

Progress has been made on my sweater project. I am pleased to report the body has been put on hold and work has begun on the sleeves! I wanted a bell shaped sleeve with a turned hem and found this pattern has the very thing. So it now has a bit of everything – % system, Big Girl Knits waist shaping, Knitty patterning …… a design casserole.

We had a bit of snow last night – not as much as predicted but enough to make a 2 hour school delay and requre some shoveling. Which I must run along to do before work …..

pigs

as promised, knitting & pigs! I brought the sweater outdoors to take the picture and while I was out there decided to also take a picture of a cute little pig plaque that is on our deck. I have emerged momentarily from the lightbox. : )

D#2 is away on a college trip with a friend and her family. I am going to put in some extra hours at the knitting shop. And a quiet weekend is ahead …….

a lightbulb(s) moment!

Did you read Norma the other day? She posted about a light box idea, she found the information here. I don’t need to tell you that Norma is one clever gal, and if she thinks something is worthwhile, it usually is. (I wonder what she thought of the horny goat weed? I know she blogged that it fell out of her wallet, but I don’t believe she ever blogged its efficacy) So anyway, I decided to give the light box a try. Boar picked up some clamp lamps at Home Depot and I was all set to go.

not too bad for my first attempt. I need to get a truly seamless background – maybe some fabric instead of two sheets of paper and I also need to move the clamp lamps. In many of the pictures you can see their reflections.

In addition to fiddling with the camera, I have been knitting. Knitting and knitting. I am happy to report that I am back to where I was before the big rip. The stockinette stitch is making me batty. I am tempted to pick up another project to alleviate the boredom, but if I do that I will never finish. So I will keep my shoulder to the wheel, nose to the grindstone etc.

just a spoonful of sugar ……

I ripped it. I ripped it all the way back to the beginning. I am telling myself that I will be happier this way. As a way of insuring this outcome, immediately after ripping it, I went online and ordered some yarn! you know what? I do feel better – not only about this project, but also about my upcoming one. Medicinal fiber purchases – they really do work!

I can’t remember if I told you guys but my next project is going to be the Hex Coat from Knitting Nature. When I was ordering yarn from Webs, I ordered Lopi Lite for this project. It arrived sometime last week and was exactly as pictured. The problem is – it is almost the exact color of the Araucania yarn I am using right now. For this past week, I have been trying to convince myself it really isn’t a problem, that the projects are different enough that such similar yarns won’t be noticeable, that if I seem to like this color it’s all okay …….

But the truth of the matter is, I like the color of the sweater in the book. I was feeling sorry enough for myself over that ripping to make pressing the ‘add to cart’ button seem okay. If I ever finish this % sweater, you shall be seeing some knitting of the Hex Coat in Celery Heather. I love food names.

Speaking of love, I forgot to show you guys my Valentine from Cara. All the way from Big Sur and at considerable risk to life and limb. She even has Georgie involved – but I will let her tell you the story.
