Did you guys read yesterday’s comments? Did you notice that Carol has suggested a name change for my wheel?

“Proud Mary” really gets around. Are you sure your name isn’t “Runaround Sue?”

I think she may be onto something here. What do you think, should I change her name? My wheel certainly does get around. When I asked for a travel bag for Christmas, I had no idea I was getting a passport to adventure!

although now in rereading it, maybe she is suggesting that my name be Runaround Sue…. that fits too.

Let’s start with some knitting ….. above is a picture of my latest sock project. Do you see the camera hog pug in the bottom left corner? I am working on the Oak Ribbed Sock pattern from Nancy Bush’s Knitting Vintage Socks book. Margene gifted me this book – signed, no less! – during our Pal exchange and I am loving it. thanks Margene!!

It is nice to break out and try a new sock style. I found I was becoming a tad stubborn with the thought of doing a different heel. I like the traditional S1K1 heel pattern and was being obstinate about trying anything new. I figure I like the way it fits my foot, why change? Which calls to mind the old adage, “The difference between a rut and a grave is the depth”. Well, this pattern has a French Heel and a Round Toe. I am using Trekking XXL – this particualr Trekking has a definied striping pattern.

Onward to some exciting things ……

Cara and I are planning an outdoor get together! How about we take our wheels out for a spin? Let’s all flock to Central Park …… RSVP over at Cara’s site – knitters are welcome too!

And now an abrupt ending to this entry because it is 70 degrees outside and I want to get out there …… in closing, if you have asked yourself if I have seen this:

Ann read this!!!

I say

yes, very funny you guys!!!

thanks to Nancy for the marquee fun! She may have been joking when she came up with this little gem, but I think everyone should institute the Ann Alert System ….. it will certainly streamline my blog reading! : )

Darlings, I give you my latest spinning result. This began as a jacob fleece that I purchased for some needle felting. Then Peggy E. added some green silk waste and other good stuff. Then I plyed it with a black cashmere single. Then I took it out back and took a semi lousy picture – I wonder what Cara could get it to look like?

I am hoping to have enough yardage to make a vest for Boar. Louise (spinning friend) had a great idea and said at the very least I will have enough to make a vest front and I can knit the back with something else – so the hunt for a pattern is on.

Yesterday was the last of our spinning class. It is hard to believe that six weeks have gone by. Good Grief, time is flying while I’ve been plying! I know my spinning itself has improved, but my spinning confidence certainly has taken a huge leap. I am the boss of my wheel. Prior to this, things were kind of like a roller coaster. Once the wheel was spinning, my feet wouldn’t stop. It all seemed to take on a life of its own. When the fiber would get too thin, I would keep on treadling and start praying, hoping the fiber wouldn’t break. The ride wouldn’t stop. Now I stop and add more. It seems quite simple, but was a true revelation for me!

**those of you who know me personally take note: if you read carefully you will see that I have gotten even bossier. egads.
