more email funnies

During the holidays, Typepad had an offer to re-sign up for a year and get a free year of blogging to give as a gift.  I gave the gift blog to my most long-time-very-best-friend.  Back when I started PurlingSwine, she had expressed an interest, she loves to write, is good at it etc.

So far nothing.

I shouldn’t complain however ….. if she does ever start to blog, then she won’t send me funny stuff like this to use on my site!

Puff the Magic Dragon

Thank you, thank you for all your supportive comments!  After next f-ing Friday this site is sure to turn a bit  …. um … nasty.  I hope you will continue to read despite all the bitching & moaning.  Come to think of it, it may actually improve my stats.  There’s nothing like having a good, safely distant view of a woman gone beserk!

I have also received some emails from fellow bloggers and friends who are taking the plunge with me.  I will not ‘out’ them until they post about it themselves.  Perhaps we should start a webring?  We would need a fabulous, ironic, tongue-in-cheek name for it …..

In other news, I sliced my thumb while using my mandoline yesterday — ouch!  I don’t believe my injury will interfere with my knitting.  I was getting dinner ready, slicing cucumbers for salad and both Daughters were in the kitchen.  We were chatting and I took my eyes off my hands for a split second.  I screamed as a small portion of my thumb came off.  While the Daughters are used to the sound of me screaming, it takes on a different tone when I’m in pain.  They are not accustomed to that sound.  They were both concerned and Daughter #2 ran for the band-aids.

At the exact same time she was asking if I was okay, Daughter #1 began eyeballing the bowl of cucumbers ……   some angel of mercy she is!

Now I ask you, what’s a little bit of thumb between a mother & daughter?

where there’s smoke ….

Why did I ever open my mouth?

Have you ever made a public proclamation that you regret?

Awhile back, I announced that I would quit smoking on March 18th.  The divine Small Hands steered me to QuitNet.  I signed up and have been receiving encouraging emails regarding my plan.

People!  March 18th is next *ucking Friday.  Sure I said I was going to do this.  But that was back in January and March seemed a long way away.  It was easy to be strong minded then.

I am cranky just thinking about it.

There is a tentative plan to get together with Joanne & Melissa and Kathleen for some needle felting next Friday.  These women are obviously nuts — on my first day of quitting, not only are they willing to be in the same room as me – they are willing to sit there while I hold tiny, sharp little needles in my hand.

They think chocolate will help.

I myself am a firm believer in the healing powers of chocolate…..I’m just not making any promises is what I’m sayin.

Oh no!

First, it wasn’t going to snow.

Then, it wasn’t going to stick.

Now, we have had whiteout conditions and 4 inches.  I cannot tell if it is still snowing because the wind is blowing so fiercly!

I do love snow – except when I have spring fever.

The silver lining?   We’re having pancakes for dinner!  Nothing says ‘your Dad’s going to be late and I love breakfast for dinner’ more than pancakes after 6 pm.

What’s your favorite non-dinner dinner?

The other great thing about a snow storm is guilt free sitting all day and knitting!  My original plan for the day was to paint two doors.  It was in the 60’s yesterday and this seemed like a reasonable idea.  With today’s freezing temperatures, the paint never would have dried properly so that plan went out the window.  There has been progress made on my Pumpkin Patch Clapotis and I’ve been working on him

ps.  is there snowblower etiquette?  how late is too late to fire up that beast?
