girls’ day

Yesterday I had a get together with Cara and Meli! How cute is this baby?! She is very very sweet. It makes me almost wish my girls were little again. almost.

We first went to Purl – Cara had a few things on her shopping list. Even though I wasn’t going to buy anything, I managed to find some very cute buttons. I promise to take a picture and show you tomorrow.

This was Meli’s first yarn shop trip and she was so well behaved! Too bad we can’t say the same about her mother.

Then it was back to Cara’s for a day of baby-holding and visiting.

Thank you all so much for your help and ideas in my quest for that picture. I decided to take your advise and simply send an email to the set decorator. Of course, that is not as simple as it sounds since email addresses are not readily available. I am having trouble even finding a fan-based email address for anyone from the show. I thought all the stars had their own websites with bio/contact info. How are we expected to write adoring fan mail anymore?

I really do have to have a little photography session here tomorrow. I have some new knitting, some new purchases and surely the pugs will be doing something exquisitely cute that will need to be shared!

I am on a hunt and I need your help

I want, I need a picture. I love this picture. I have no idea what it is called or where I could get my hands on a print of it or if any of this even possible.

This is where you come in. Perhaps one of you knows this artist? Or knows someone who knows art? Or maybe you know of a website that I could search? Help!

So here is the picture. It is on the set of The New Adventures of Old Christine. If you follow that link and watch the video, right at the 7:31 mark, you will see it. It is a girl in a skirt, holding a large yellow ball over her head. [eta: it is in the very right hand side of the frame, above Wanda Sykes]

there is talk of a sock yarn reward.

uniforms!

When I was in high school I got my first paying job. And by paying I mean taxes …. before that there was babysitting and a paper route. Something about having a check made me feel very grown up.

Anyway, back to my story …. it was a job at Gino’s. Gino’s was a local fast food chain. My two other friends also had jobs at competing fast food places – McD’s and PizzaHut. We often discussed which uniforms were the best of the bunch. Gino’s was okay – I seem to remember orange and brown and a little kerchief type head thingie.

I am all for self expression, but there is something compelling about a uniform. To not have to worry about what you’re going to wear. Can you imagine that type of freedom? None of those early morning choices to suck precious minutes from your day. No judgments about your own taste. You’re wearing your uniform. There is a certain amount of serenity there.

Well, would you just look at what is going on at Granny’s?! They’ve knitted up some uniforms! Kathleen’s sweater is almost finished – I think she still had a sleeve to go. Granny is wearing her owner/manager’s vest but she also has a matching sweater in pink – it was gracing a store mannequin when I took this picture.
