end of the year knitting

I’m seeing 2007 out with an FO.
woot!

This is the cabled newsboy cap from Stitch n Bitch Nation.

D#1 does not often request knitted items so when she said she would like this cap, I jumped right on it. I knit it in one day. It was an entire day of knitting where I did absolutely nothing else, stayed in the pj’s, had food delivered to my chair. Not a pretty sight, but still – one day!

Anyway, I love the pattern, and adore the yarn! seriously, I am in love with the yarn. It is the hand dyed worsted from Blue Sky – so soft and the colors are gorgeous! I am planning on making another one of these for D#2. I will be knitting her a brown one as well – the pattern calls for two skeins and in fact it took just over one, so I am trying to be economical and use up all my leftover yarn.

Another year has come and gone and we are all left wondering where the time went. It certainly passes too quickly, but I suppose that’s better than the alternative ;) I wish you all a very happy New Year!

a little behind?

I was hoping that pictures I had ordered would arrive today and that these could go out. That way at least they would arrive before New Year’s. There is still a chance that they could, but …….

so, how late is too late?

Christmas Knitting

At long last I can unveil a bit of Christmas knitting. These are the Squirrel and Oak mittens from Hello Yarn.

It was my first true attempt at this type of knitting. In the past I would simply pick up each color as needed. This time however, Sue gave me a lesson in holding a strand in each hand.

I ended up knitting three of these. I was not completely satisfied with the first mitten that came off my needles – the yarn was not holding up well and I also felt that my stitches were a bit wonky.

I gifted them to my SiL who is thrilled with them!
