You should have watched and listened last time. Now you have to undo or repeat something that you’d rather not see or hear again. It would have been nice if others said something at the time, but that wasn’t their job. Anyway, they probably thought that you knew what you were doing. Instead of dwelling on sour grapes and bad apples, make lemonade out of lemons. Even though you stopped smiling, this problem won’t stop you. You’ve already learned some valuable lessons from it, and you put them to use immediately. You refuse to live with what you know you can change.

Here is my chance to see once and for all if horoscopes have a legitimate claim.

The quote above is my horoscope for today. My SIL is arriving today — she of the Little Red Mitten Nightmare. The way I read this article (lemons=mittens, valuable lessons=swatching) it sounds like those *&%! mittens aren’t going to fit her, but that this problem won’t stop me and I will triumph! Shazam! I will let you know when the results are in from the lab …..

oh, the irony!!

Julia (a wonderfully insightful person – check out her 2/7 post!) at Knitting History led me to The Dye Pot who has posted this quiz.

I have an Auntie who is a wonderful knitter. She has knit countless Christmas stockings. However, when a Christmas stocking is not commissioned she knits cotton dishcloths and always uses the same pattern. I have been campaigning (unsuccessfully) to broaden her knitting repertoire. I have sent her a wonderful link to many dishcloth patterns, links to patterns for children’s knits (she has five grandbabies and one on the way), but she won’t budge! This Auntie will get a special, wicked delight in my results of the following quiz – I can hear her giggling!

You are dishcloth cotton.
You are Dishcloth Cotton.
You are a very hard worker, most at home when
you’re at home. You are thrifty and seemingly
born to clean. You are considered to be a Plain
Jane, but you are too practical to notice.

What kind of yarn are you?

While other knitters may have sterling silver stitch markers or handmade beaded ones, PurlingSwine has discovered a way to fight plaque buildup and knit!

These electric toothbrushes come with one handle and interchangeable toothbrush heads. The heads have little colored discs so that family members don’t end up using each other’s (not much worse than putting a damp toothbrush in your mouth!).

Recently I bought new round of toothbrush heads for the family and discovered that these colored discs can be snapped off with a bit of pressure using the tip of a tweezer.

Voila! minty new stitch markers!!

pump.bmpRecognize this? I wish I didn’t!! It is a pump – something that I had to run and buy today when the old one gave up the ghost. Still ended up bailing the garage all day. :(

Over the summer we had a major flood in our basement and I keep having flashbacks (nightmares really)

It has been nothing but rain and there is no relief in sight. Hopefully we won’t float away. purlingswine is not happy!
