The turkey is relaxing in its briny bath.  This will be my third year making the turkey this way – I follow this recipe to the letter and make the gravy too.  Our very own Bookish Girl is going to try this recipe – sans the gizzardy bits.  Maybe once she gets a few Thanksgivings under her belt, she will try the gizzardy bits.  They really do make a fantastic gravy.

Now I will begin to make the dessert.  Kathleen thinks I only dress up Costco cheesecakes …… ha!  We are actually going to a friend’s house for dessert and I will be bringing this along, otherwise I would offer to save her some leftovers.  Oh well …… I shall take a picture or two with which to torment her.  she probably doesn’t like cranberries anyway.  But I bet she’s a sucker for compote.  Check it out – cranberry cheesecake.

D#1 is home safe and sound.  And she really didn’t have all that much laundry – one load’s worth.  But we’ve already had the hot chocolate.  By the way, that machine makes wicked good cocoa. I went through ¾ of a gallon of milk yesterday.

Some was spent making lattes, but it certainly doesn’t bode well.

anyway, it is off to the kitchen for me…… I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I got a new gadget!  I have been in the market for something like this and a friend found it for me at Lowe’s (for less $$ too!).

Now I am all toked up on lattes…

D#1 gets home tonight!  I am inordinately excited – I have visions of us sitting around sipping hot chocolate wearing our footie pj’s.  The reality will be – she is going out with friends, while I fold her laundry….. and sip hot chocolate.

plus, I don’t have footie jams.  But there will be hot chocolate.

My weekend was spent doing two things ….. raking leaves and working on Halcyon.  I am thrilled and slightly stunned frankly to report that the first sleeve is done and I am onto the second.  I didn’t think I would have a chance in hell of finishing this for Christmas and it is looking like it might happen – possibly with time to spare!  hope I didn’t just jinx myself.

As soon as I finish this entry, I will be off to the grocery store to start the Thanksgiving preparations.  For the first time in maybe forever, it will be just the Boar, Girls and me.  I am so excited to have it be just us – we will be going to a friend’s house for dessert.  We have always had company, or been company.  Not that I don’t like company, but this is a welcome change.  And it is a guilt free change.  Everyone else (all the extended family) has flown the coop!

It is giving me such a happy good cozy feeling and now the weather report is for snowshowers.  That will be the icing on the cake – the whip cream on the pie – the stuffing in the bird –

all you bloggers out there, I know you take pictures of your projects, but do you save the specs anywhere but on your blog?  I am thinking it would be a good idea to keep a file on my computer.

you know how they say you should never go to bed angry?  (the implied threat being that one of you will sell the farm during the wee hours and the survivor will have to live with the guilt that leaving the toilet seat up one too many times did you in)

anyway, it occurs to me that if one does not blog during the weekend then one should not leave their final post on Friday to be one of scratching asses and sniffing fingers…..

what if one of us were to sell the farm this weekend?
