Did you know that I am still doing Weight Watchers? That I have put a running tally on my sidebar? I haven’t pointed it out before because for the past three weeks I have been playing around with the same 1½ pounds. It’s very frustrating when that happens. Well, this week I have gotten past that! look to the right and you’ll see…….

Yes, I have now officially lost 19.6 pounds! and I swear that if I had used the bathroom once more before last night’s meeting ended, the other .4 would have come off.

For the past three weeks, I have sat in that meeting and listened to this one guy talk about a mantra that has worked for him. Let me just say that the word mantra makes me suspicious. It instantly puts me on edge – it seems all new age, touchy feely and I have a very deep vein of practicality. So when I first heard this guy talking about his mantra, I thought to myself what a moron. I think I may have even whispered the same to my girlfriend who is doing WW too.

Then the following week where I had gone up a bit and was sitting there all cranky & pissed, someone else spoke up about the mantra. About how the first guy inspired them and they tried the mantra and it worked. I had a brief thought of oh great now there’s two morons. But the proof is in the pudding (ha! gotta love a fat girl slinging food puns all around the place) and I gave it a try.

And then there were three morons. Sure enough at last night’s meeting I spoke up about the mantra.

I suppose I should tell you the mantra. Who among us doesn’t have a few pounds to lose?

Here it is ….. every day, a couple of times throughout the day I say out loud, I Am Going To Lose Two Pounds This Week!

I have very high hopes of making it to the twenty pound mark next week and would like to honor the occasion by having another contest! email me at purlingswine@yahoo.com and tell me your best mantra …..

with a twist ….

In her post today, Cara mentioned that things seem to be quiet in blogland. And it’s true, I’ve noticed it too and I’ve also been feeling it myself.

As the temperatures start to climb, I seem to have less and less to say. Well, that’s not exactly true, as you’ll find if you call me on the phone. I should say, I seem to have less and less inclination to type it all out. And it’s not that I don’t want to blog – I do! I do!! (you’re not getting rid of me that easily). Maybe having a hot laptop on my thighs is like knitting a woolen afghan.

All the sunshine and balmly breezes are making me a bit languid. A bit gin-and-tonics-on-the-porch-ish.

man, that sounds good.

and another thing – would it be wrong to have chocolate cake right before Ye Olde WW Weighe Inne?

apple of my eye!

Were you wondering where I’ve been?

My BFF Mary and her daughter (my god daughter) Claire came for a visit and to celebrate Claire’s 12th birthday! Happy Birthday Claire! We had a real girls’ weekend, complete with popcorn and Mr. Darcy. Claire is one of my all time favorites, with her sassy attitude and her sharp mind (I think she gets that from me!). Her Mom is tops in my book too.

Claire has recently taken up knitting and completed her first sock. I put together a knitting basket for her birthday. As if she couldn’t get any better, Claire also requested a spinning lesson and seems to be a natural – the girl is good! check out that spun fiber in her hands – that is the result of a quick mini lesson and about five minutes of spinning!

walking along country roads with my boar

dearest Ones,

You might think that I had expended my weekend fun quotient on Friday with my trip into the city. Yukking it up with Cara, Kay, Bakerina, Wendy and all the other yarn chicks. As luck would have it, I did not. (don’t hate me because I lead such an exciting life – hate me because I’m beautiful…)

The Boar and I were carefree this weekend with D#2 away on a weekend school trip. On Saturday, we hopped into Onslow and went motoring around LI due east. We meandered. We held hands. We were reminded that we really do enjoy each other’s company. And don’t even hint around about wild sex. My daughters sometimes read this site! Suffice to say, those two didn’t fall from the sky, they got here the old fashioned way! ; )

We ended up in Greenport. As if a romantic day with the Boar wasn’t enough perfection, I managed some fiber purchases! Greenport is home to Now and Zen which has been on my radar as a shop I wanted to check out. Here’s a look at what I bought …..

We also stopped at a Claudio’s for dinner. It is a great restaurant with pretty views of the harbor. Can you guess what Boar ordered?
