argh!!! the one time I remember to save my post as a draft it doesn’t work! and I get messages saying typepad is down for maintenance. Why if they are down for maintenance is 6 a.m. was I able to access my posting page at 8:30, only to be told that my opus would neither be posted nor saved??? ergh.

Anyway, I what I was trying to say was that my sweet pug Lucy has a hot spot. And it is in a tricky spot. And that I don’t want to put the elizabethan collar on her since I am convinced she would really hurt herself trying to navigate our house and yard with that thing on. And that my good friend and fellow dog lover Peggy suggested putting a t-shirt on her. And that although I didn’t think a t-shirt would cover the spot, how could I resist the chance to dress up my dog?

the minute D#2 stepped away, Lucy zoomed around the room trying to run out of the shirt!

she really hates it!

well the shirt didn’t cover the spot and now she is wearing a bandanna just like all the cool dogs do.

Intarsia and the Old Lady

Today is D#1’s birthday! Her 19th birthday. Since this is my blog and it’s all about me, let’s take a moment and focus on the birthday mother.

I cannot believe this. I am a cliché. The woman who cannot fathom her childrens’ ages and the mathematical implications for her own chronology. How has this happened? She’s nineteen. And I am not. ~sob~

It’s probably a good thing then that I am busy boning (tee-hee! am I ever too old to get a kick out of sexual innuendo?) up on my mad intarsia skillz. In dinosaur years, I am a heartbeat away from grandmahood and will soon be churning out Peter Rabbit nursery sets and the like ….. so with that in mind, I present to you something I call Pug Pillow …..

This is another Christmas gift – one I can show on the blog because the recipient (Mr. Boar) does not read purlingswine. Can you believe it?? If I had to guess, I would say that he would tell you he doesn’t read my site because he gets enough of my lips flapping in his ears in real life. A virtual me would put him over the edge. La? you’re on notice my dearest cheese, I see a logcabin square for the back of this on the knitting horizon.

Once this pillow is complete, I am casting on for one of these. Unlike the lovely Rachel, I will not be using my own handspun but I did pick up some Noro. I cannot wait to get started. Vicki darling, I hear that you have your eye on this too!

My laptop had a seizure and I lost my whole entry. I hate when that happens.

Here are the highlights:

  • cake I made for the 4th. Searching for this link is what put my laptop over the edge. If you’re interested, you can get the link yourself. It’s Ina Garten’s Flag Cake and was featured in a Martha Stewart Magazine at some point. It is delicious.

  • I have finished my Flower Basket Shawl and it is blocking. Surprisingly, I only used ½ a skein of the Schaeffer. I know I used exactly ½ because I weighed it. So did I frig it up completely, or did I truly only use 280 yds. It looks okay …… and more importantly, what to make with the leftovers? hmmm…..
  • I hit the 20 pound mark at my last WW weigh in. And though things have been downhill this week due to the presence of leftover flag cake, it is still time to name the mantra winner! Nancy our favorite foul mouthed Bronx Girl!

While I may want the cookie, I don’t need the cookie, fuck the
cookie…

  • This is what I am sending her

    Yarntrainer_1
a Yarntainer that I found at Target!

  • and the last thing …..
