so, so close ….

Last night’s spinning guild meeting was fairly exciting and so I did not quite complete the socks.

This pattern widened my sock knitting repertoire to include a French Heel and a Rounded Toe. I surprised myself by liking them both – especially the rounded toe. I love the way the two sided decrease toe looks and feels and truly didn’t think I would like this other method – but I was wrong! Here is a closer look at the pattern stitch in the cuff. I will say that it shows up much better when the sock in being worn, but here goes …..

I need to finish these up and find a new project quic! We are going on a road trip tomorrow to visit D#1 and also spend some time with my Brother and SiL. I will be needing another sock pattern for extended car ride knitting.

and although none of you has asked ~ahem~ I just know you have been missing seeing little black pug pictures …… and I always say to give the people what they want. Actually, I never say that, but maybe I’ll start. This is what he as been doing as I have been typing this post – do you think he’s trying to tell me something?

please note that Mr. Poe does not really have demonically possessed blue eyes – they’re more a demonically possessed brown.

who stole my golden arm?!

Cara has asked for a ghost story ….. actually she heard this while visiting this weekend and it freaked her out so much, we almost ended up being bed buddies ……. that being said, I think I am a shoe in to win her contest.

When I was 24, I was a college graduate, newly married and living in Michigan with Boar and D#1 who was an infant. At some point, I took D#1 and went home to PA for a visit with the folks.

One night during that weekend, I had an extremely sexual dream about Danny K. a guy who went to my high school. Other than going to the same school, this fellow and I had no contact – he traveled with a faster crowd than I did. So it is surprising to say the least that all those years later I would dream about him, let alone in a crazy sex fantasy. And to this day, it remains my #1 sex dream …. well, it may be neck and neck with that one I had about Prince but I digress.

When I woke up that morning, I remember laying in bed and thinking WTF? then I heard my FA in PA come in our back door and start talking to my mother who was in the kitchen. She said she had heard some terrible news …..

……… that Danny K. had been killed in a motorcycle accident around 3 in the morning.

as I told Cara and Claire, I may not have been his first, but I certainly was his last! ; )

how was my weekend?

Vicki just wrote this in an email – and she hit the nail on the head ……

ann & cara — like peas & carrots ; )

I am sorry to say that I don’t have one single picture to share! I did take pictures of Cara’s spinning lesson, but they are on Cara’s camera. I could tell you about our weekend in one word – laughing.

We went to Cara’s spinning lesson ….. spinning & laughing.

My friend Claire came over to knit …. laughing and peeing in our pants – oh, and knitting!

We went on a yarn shop crawl, saw Kathleen and Granny ….. laughing and shopping.

We went to Claire’s house to see her cemetery …… laughing, peeing and ghosts (yes, Claire has a cemetery – actually two cemeteries! our Miss Flair needs a blog – desperately.)

Ricki came over with bagels …… laughing, cream cheese and knitting …. and some of Bakerina’s delicious damson butter!

Here is the picture I wanted to show you the other day when D#2 did NOT misplace the cable thingy. Vicki sent a package to mark our one year Quit Smoking Anniversary. The socks are cozy, the candy was delicious, but how damn cute is that pot holder?!! How about the money shot? Thank you Vicki!

Yesterday was spent at my spinning lesson. We have one more left – last week is the last one. I can’t believe it’s been six weeks already. What a difference they have made. I can’t say exactly what I’ve learned, but I have certainly taken my spinning up a notch or two and have also put that beginner’s nervousness behind me.These lessons have had less to do with technicalities and more with the ‘feel’ of the fiber. One of yesterday’s highlights was that I got to try out Peggy E’s Norm Hall wheel. If you are not a spinner, this wheel is one of spinning’s Holy Grails. Hers is the saxony model and not a castle wheel like my Lendrum. I did not like this arrangement. I could not get used to the fiber going off to the left and my hands felt as though they were tripping over each other. I have made a mental note to only try and get my hands on a Norm Hall Castle wheel. : )

Did you know I am getting company tomorrow? I have to trot along and start cleaning …..
