On Monday I overcame a personal knitting challenge. I installed a zipper on the Boar’s Saranac sweater! Many thanks to my zipper mentor Peggy for her expert guidance. I even took pictures to document the event and to possibly do a little tutorial.

Well, it turns out I need a camera tutorial. I got a bit overzealous with the delete key and poof, they’re gone!

As a consolation you get more pug videos. Let me first say however, that I did not realize I would not be able to rotate the picture and so much of the video is sideways and also I DO NOT sound like that. gah! If I could figure out how to mute that damn voice, I would.

okay, so now I don’t know if this video is going to work. yes, it is one of those days.

Just when a girl sort of gets her blogging mojo back, the powers that be eat her post.  sigh.

so here is the shortened version:

knitting:

  • I am working on socks
  • the yarn is lovely and the pattern is very nice
  • I can’t stand knitting them but I won’t rip them out because
  • the yarn is lovely and the pattern is very nice
  • I also won’t cast on for another project because there are simply too many unfinished knits around here.
  • a rock and a hard place.

family:

  • spring is here and that means house projects!
  • reflooring the deck – ripping up all the old boards and replacing with lovely composite wood decking material.
  • draining the pool for upcoming sandblasting/repainting

I have been playing around with my camera and you will see that I have very little idea of how to use the video function, but you can definitely get the flavor of how projects go around here.  Look for Lu at the end of the second video!

Today is shaping up to be busy busy. First off, Cara & Meli are possibly coming out to visit!! And I know she’s on the breast etc. but I feel like I should go grocery shopping. I mean, Cara has to eat, right?

Secondly, I definitely have to clean. Vacuum at the very least.

Thirdly, Gardener’s Supply has just delivered the asparagus crowns I ordered. I am feeling somewhat garden-y this year and decided to take the plunge and do some double digging ( I suppose I should figure out what the hell that means) It is a glorious day in a week full of rain and I will be working tomorrow. I really need to get those in the ground – today. Which means this morning!

mods: collar rather than hood

I know this picture is a bit blurry, but without the flash the color of the yarn comes through. I have been wanting to knit this project ever since my friend Flair knit one up. The construction is interesting – knit from each sleeve toward the center line and then kitchenered up the back! I have also been attempting to knit from my stash and I have lots of Cotton Ease, so there could be a few more of these in my knitting future. When in between big projects, my grandmother often knit up a baby something-or-other to have on hand for gift giving and I think that is a good idea. It is also a great way to knit from the stash!

You may notice in the button close up that I put in five button holes, but I am only using three — I need to sew up the other two. The puppy buttons were perfect, but five was overkill.

Did you all have a nice Mother’s Day? Mr. Boar and I went plant/yard shopping and bought ourselves a new gardening toy. A gas powered edging tool that will take attachments! So we bought ourselves the rototilling attachment and also the weed whacking attachment. OMG I am in love with that rototiller! That thing has made mincemeat of some back-breaking labor — I got all of my veggie beds turned over and also extended a garden that has been on my mind. Yay for power equipment for Mother’s Day! (I also got a plant and some chocolates from the Ds).
