Ann on Why Blog Reading is Bad for You and can Lead to Fever & Chills …..

Fever symptoms:

somehow, somewhere I followed a link from someone’s blog to 101 Cookbooks. I read the recipe for frozen yogurt and her love for her Krups ice cream maker. In that moment, I became convinced that I too needed a Krups ice cream maker. right now.

A quick internet searched led me to the conclusion that people LOVE their Krups La Glaciere ice cream makers. And to the other conclusion that Krups is no longer making that model. ah, the agony!

I was almost heartbroken until I discovered this Cuisinart ice cream maker on sale at Williams Sonoma. Actually the price isn’t all that stellar, but that extra bowl tie in is irresistible. A quick call to my local Williams Somona store confirmed that they had them in stock. And wasn’t it convenient that I had to run to the mall anyway??

so let’s see, I read about them at 8:00 am and owned one by 11:30.
this is the chills part

I made that frozen yogurt recipe at 101 Cookbooks last night. I used greek style yogurt as they recommend. It was fantastic.

Today’s pig is one that I made with my own two hands. Many moons ago I took a pottery class and made this guy.

~Thank you everyone for your kind words about my canine drama. Life has gotten back to normal around here for the dogs except for the jingle of their new collars and tags~

does that count as four?

these little guys are lined up along the thermostat in our bedroom. I think they are actually tiny erasers.

It is crazy cold here. The outdoor thermometer read 11° this morning and the wind is wild. Our yard is full of branches that came down during the ice storm and today will add even more to the heaps. Once the weather warms up our chipper shredder will be getting a workout. I think I would like spring more if it didn’t mean so much yard work!

I’m making meatloaf for dinner tonight – I have a butcher’s blend of beef, pork and veal. Anyone have an all time favorite recipe?

Today is Black Friday, as I’m sure you’re all aware. I, for one, will be no where near the malls – it’s on line for me baby! and here is an amusing link in light of the day & season!

Thank you for all your comments about my sweater. Truly I am beginning to believe that when knitting a sweater for myself I enter some kind of fibery fugue state. I refuse to see problems that are right there in front of my eyes. Problems that I am holding in my own two hands ferchristssakes. Did you notice that those color breaks were throughout the top portion of the sweater? That up until I posted the picture I had managed to avoid acknowledging other spots of white? Then there is also the sizing issue – although I have gotten better about that. Lately I am better about realizing if something is too small/big.

So, I ended up ripping back to the underarm. Both Cara and Kathleen remarked on the pooling (something else I was in denial about) and Cara told me a good way to avoid it. I thought that the honeycomb pattern would be enough to avoid pooling. Wrong. So here’s what to do about it – alternate skeins of yarn on alternate rows. Simple enough. but really, with color breaks and pooling, remind me again why we like handpainted/dyed yarns?

But what this all really, really means is that I am completely and totally sick of this sweater and have cast it aside to knit a hat. I am to the crown decreases of the hat so it won’t be long before the sweater is back in my hands. But at this rate, one has to wonder when it will be on my back.

ps. Aunt Mabel’s Cranberry Pie Cake was a big success – and easy peasy!
