I know I have been an absent blogger. I have no good excuse other than there is really nothing to say! I do however have a prezzie for you all just to make it all better.

How about a Adirondack chair tutorial??

Mr. Boar (Boar, Boar he’s our Man! If he can’t do it, nobody can) finally succumbed to my nagging and put together a how-to for the chairs. He has crazy little handwriting, so hopefully you will be able to read what he wrote.

I would like to remind you that these chairs are a replica of Kay’s chairs. After visiting her last summer and loving them, I took lots of pictures and measurements and then Boar and I churned out a bunch for our place. I think they should be voted the official Knitting on the Porch chair. Plenty of room for your elbow and a refreshing beverage on those hot summer days!

Do you see that? Do you know what that means? It’s true – I have reached the underarm! The moment I was convinced would never arrive is finally here. I have achieved underarm shaping on the back piece. THE END IS IN SIGHT PEOPLE! After this, one sleeve remains – which seems like absolutely no big deal after the desolation of the back. And then seaming it up and knitting the hex border and that part will be fun.

A number of you asked what is a Regents test after I mentioned that D#2 took the last of hers. Truth be told they are something of a mystery to me as well. I grew up in PA and had never heard of them until I moved to NY. Here is what Wikipedia has to say. I would summarize by saying that they are subject tests given by the state and a student cannot graduate without passing them. Depending on the courses taken, they begin in the 9th grade and end in either the junior or senior year. D#2 just finished her junior year and took the very last of her Regents exams which was physics. whew. After I finish this post, I am going to plan a three day trip to visit colleges with her.

Things have been hectic around here. Thursday was D#2’s last final – it was also her last Regent. TGTO (thank God that’s over). Friday she attended her boyfriend’s senior prom, so there was a flurry of activity getting ready for that. But hard work pays off – look how cute she is!

I was invited to sing Happy Birthday to my favorite Bronx Girl on Saturday afternoon! Her birthday is Wednesday, go on over there and tell her she looks fantastic for her age. Kathleen and I hopped in Onslow headed to the Bronx and feasted on Maribel’s excellent cooking. OMG can that girl cook. She is a cooking wonder – it was all in Spanish, so I cannot even begin to tell you what she made. Lots of it was fried and really, that’s all that needs to be said. Yum! I also got to meet Chante, Risa and Tisha. Yes, meeting them was almost as good as Maribel’s cooking. Although none of them are fried. It was a great time and besides the feasting there was plenty of fiber play.

From that party, I headed straight to another party! Flair (the blogless wonder) was celebrating her daughter’s high school graduation. And that was another fantastic time with more delicious food. Do you get the sense that I don’t need to eat for an entire week after this past weekend?

On the knitting front I shall just say the moss stitch continues. My next project is The Babette blanket for which I have received fabulous yarn, colorful yarn, glorious colorful yarn. Yet I abstain. I cannot start that project until the Hex is lifted.

did you find your way here from Cara’s? would you like to hear the story behind the ‘my love muscle can bench press 250’ wisecrack? Here goes ….. Cara was relating some ‘guy talk’ where one guy was inquiring about the girlfriend of his buddy. He wondered about the state of her ‘love muscle’ and how strong it was or wasn’t. I was a bit dumbfounded – what in the hell is a love muscle? How can I be 44 years old and not know about this? Well, Cara explained it all to me using a Keigel exercise example — and my reply was ‘oh that. I didn’t know that was called a love muscle. Here I always thought it was called a vagina. Well, my love muscle can bench press 250!’

now tell me, if that were a podcast would you subscribe?

it would sound something like this:

A: moss stitch. grumble, cursing, bitching

C: STR!!!! New Knitting Bag!!!!! tra la la tra la la tra la la fuckers

C: love muscle.

A: ?

A: 250.

hilarity.
